Oh look Supercoach was responsible for creating JT too now. Talk about a bet each way! "Don't worry I said we were going to lose, and I'm the one who got the Maroons where they are..."

I'm seriously struggling to go for the Blues... if it wasn't for Gallen there'd be no chance.

I will give Stuart credit for the juniors system he helped build up, and we are seeing rewards from that now. But the reality he is was well on the way to losing 9-in-a-row before all the off-field stuff happened in 2009.

I didn't think it was that bad an article. He obviously has a great relationship with a lot of his players. 6 of ours i believe had get out clauses if he left. I certainly wouldn't say he created JT in any way, but i see what he done with Kade. Positive i suppose.

Greenberg confirms Stuart in Dogs' sights

CANTERBURY CEO Todd Greenberg has confirmed he will speak to Ricky Stuart about the vacant Bulldogs coaching job, but insists caretaker coach Jim Dymock will be at the club in some capacity next season.

While both Stuart and the Bulldogs insist they have had no contact over the position, Greenberg said the NSW Origin coach was on a shortlist of candidates drawn up by the club.

Bradford's Michael Potter, Huddersfield's Nathan Brown, Castleford's Terry Matterson and Hull KR's Justin Morgan are also among about a dozen candidates with whom he wishes to speak.

Dymock, who was an assistant to Stuart in the Blues Origin campaign and worked under him at Cronulla before joining the Bulldogs in 2009, is another serious contender, and Greenberg said that if he did not get the top job he would remain on the coaching staff next season.

''He will be here in some capacity, one way or another,'' Greenberg said. ''He will either be here as head coach or he will continue in his role as assistant coach. We're not in any rush. We told Jimmy he has got an opportunity so we are giving him that while we do everything else.''
He said he planned to speak
with Stuart. ''Despite everything I have seen and read about Ricky being a done deal and that sort of stuff, it is so far from the truth it is not funny. We haven't even had a discussion with him yet, but we will - among a number of other candidates as well.''

If Stuart was to become the Canterbury coach, he would have to quit the Blues job as both the Bulldogs and the NSWRL have made it clear he cannot perform both roles.

It had been suggested that moves were being made to reduce Stuart's workload with the NSWRL by appointing Trent Barrett to a high performance role, but the Herald was told the former Blues playmaker and captain would work alongside Stuart - not in place of him - as a replacement for Matt Parish, who has taken up the coaching reins at Salford.

NSWRL general manager Geoff Carr said Stuart had indicated to him at a debriefing last week that he would fulfil the final year of his contract to coach the Blues.
''Ricky told me that he hasn't had any contact with the Bulldogs and he is already beginning to plan for next year's State of Origin,'' Carr said.
Stuart began his coaching career with Canterbury's Jersey Flegg side in 2001 and has a good relationship with several influential officials at the club.
Potter also has strong ties to the Bulldogs after playing in the club's 1983 and 1984 premiership-winning teams, while Matterson is a Canterbury junior from Chester Hill.

But after promoting recently departed mentor Kevin Moore from assistant coach to the top job without considering any external candidates the last time the Bulldogs changed coaches, Greenberg said he was undertaking a thorough search for Moore's replacement. A past association with the club would be a bonus but not a necessity.

''We need to find the best available candidate for the job and if he has got some ties to the club then fantastic, but we want the best person for the job, as simple as that,'' Greenberg said.

I hope he goes there so we can see the Bulldogs fall apart. Plus so there is a chance he won't coach NSW.

The only worry would be him poaching our players.

You don't think he has improved NSW? Before this year they were a mess and now they are at least competitive.

As Bellamy has shown coaching at representative and club level are completely different beasts.

The last few weeks listening to Ricky on OWaaT he seems to have wised up on the attacking/tactical side of things through a few pointers from Gus.

He even admitted in his column that he erred in not taking Gus' advice on rebuilding the Roosters roster which was crux of the conflict between the two.

He will be a better coach than he was here on that basis alone.

Ricky will have success but it will be a matter of how long that will endure and what sort of state he will leave the Dogs after his time finishes.

Sticky has improved NSW - and for that reason he still should remain the NSW coach. I said that as a response to Deano inferring that he would be glad to see Sticky get the Bulldogs job because that means he cant coach NSW.
