Young Bronco Reece Robinson set for NRL debut

BRONCOS coach Wayne Bennett has anointed little-known speedster Reece Robinson to make his NRL debut in round one against the Panthers.
Robinson appears to have edged himself in front of teenage flyer Gerard Beale in the race for a treasured wing spot for Brisbane's March 16 season opener.
The 20-year-old is the cousin of both boxing champion and former Bronco Anthony Mundine, and injured Bunnies flyer Nathan Merritt – and was recommended to Bennett by Mundine.
The former Cronulla and South Sydney junior turned in an eye-catching display against Redcliffe on Saturday while 17-year-old Beale, who played right centre, was also solid.
"Reece really showed something so I think he could have solved a problem for us," Bennett said.
"He played good, really good, he looked like he knew what he was doing. He's probably put his hand up a little bit for us."
Robinson and Beale could yet both earn wing spots against Penrith with established flyer Darius Boyd failing to impress against Redcliffe at fullback.
Boyd's experience is expected to earn him the nod – although Beale remains firmly in calculations.
"The other kid's pretty good as well (Beale), he's a good kid," Bennett said. "I was happy with him. He's only 17 and he missed most of last year with a reconstruction of his knee so he's only going to get better."
Saturday was Robinson's fourth successive pre-season trial for the Broncos – and he looked settled in a performance in which he set up a long-range try for Joel Moon and score Brisbane's matchwinning try.
