hey guys. did notice there was a thread already about ross possible 7 week ban. for a start i think thats bullsh*t, and dont think ross deserves to be out for that long. maybe not even 5 imo. it wasnt as bad as it looked, and ross knew what he had done and was helping cronk up before white cowardly attacked him.

what i want to get is your opinions on how long white will be out for. for a start, i think ross should have only got 10 in the bin and white's send off was the correct decision. kickers are continually getting late hits and the only thing different with this one was that no attention would have been brought to it if it wasnt for white. cronk would have gotten up, a quick sorry from ross, and then on wiht the game (or in that case, cronk celebrating his (possibly only) pinpoint try-scoring kick of the game).

what white did is absolutely cheap and cowardly, and imo he deserves to be out for a long time as well. the game does not need this and the fact that ross was defencless for all the hits white put on his nose further shames the game of rugby league. im all up for sticking up for your player and as a forward myself i always want to protect my halves, but white took it too far. shame on you brett white. you should be suspended for as long as ross is.

even if white didnt hit him im sure the match review committee wouldve seen it and punished ross. alhtough he might have got out of being sent off if the video ref saw nothing. ill commend the ref for the way he handled it

sos are you a total idiot? run out of nowhere? ross is doing what every other forward is doing in our game today (aka steve price, mark omeley, tonnie carrol) in running out to put pressure on the kicker. yes, i will admit ross' shot was high and deserved to be penalised, but i dont believe (the elbow) was purposely done and you can see ross try to help cronk up after he realises it was a high shot. ross hit was worth 10 in the bin and a penalty (if try wasnt awarded) at the most.

and where the f*ck in the rule book sos does it say a player can belt another player if the player he is belting has done something wrong toward his teammates or team. the point here is a clear disobedience and lack of respect of the "sprit of the game".

white could have told cameron smith and a complaint could have been made and refered to the referee or video referee (have a look on a replay, white is pointing at ross trying to get the refs attention, but due to the ball being on the other side of the field the referee is not near whire, so he takes action into his own hands).

although realisticly as that play resulted in a try, a referee complaint would not have happened anyway, im sure white and cronk would have happily forgotten about the incident, being more concerned in trying to beat off this sharkies outfit who are going to go all the way in 2008!

it was peek
also keep in mind ross has somewhere from 60-90 carry overs already, and will have loadings for prior offences and prior similiar offences

white will be undersuspended considering how vicious and deliberate his actions were, as the following will be over looked: that his first response was to point, 2nd was too push and third was to punch, which occurred while ross was being held and unable to defend himself (just like cronk couldnt defend himself)

I think Ross hit more with forearm rather than an elbow, as for white, well he will get a suspension but it will only be a couple of weeks i think. What ever happens Ross will get more, especially with what has gone on with shoulder charges gone wrong in the last week or so.

True, but look at Ashley Grahams hit on Hodgson. Heaps worse. Hodgson was slipping but Graham hit him flush with the point of his elbow, knocking him sensless. I really think that they should consider the result of the infringement ie Cronk got up and didnt appear to be that phased by it. Also, on the replay Cronk leans back as he kicks the ball which lowers the point of contact. I've got no doubt Benny didnt deliberately try and get Cronk in the head. This carry over and loading bull**** is a ****ing disgrace.

I think Chikenhawk's view is admirable from a Sharks point of view but I also understand SOS's point. If Ben Ross hits Cronk legally, then there's no issue and White doesn't come in and take Ross out.

Sorry Chikenhawk, but I have to disagree with you that Ross only deserved 10 mins in the bin and a penalty. The shot was late and whether it is elbow or forearm, he got him in the head - it may not have been a full blow, possibly only grazing as Cronk did get up pretty quickly but Ross deserved to get sent off and so did White. I think they both deserve to get the same punishment but Ross has more carryover points I think and will be out for longer.

I think the important thing here is that we've shown opposing sides that they will not get an easy game against us, we hit hard and often and apart from Ben Ross' tackle we are legal. We have found some aggression at long last and if opposing teams hate us then great, we must have hit a nerve somewhere and they won't treat us as the usual soft underbelly gummy Sharks we have been in the past.

The experts are starting to see the benefits of Ricky's coaching and the speed with which our defensive line works is fantastic. So we may have lost Ross to the judiciary but our resolve has become very steely and opposition teams will now fear us more than before.

By the way Chikenhawk, don't call your fellow Sharks fans idiots, we reserve that for opposing team fans! We have to stick together and support each other!

:cheers

I was just listening to Triple M - heres their thoughts re : White.
Gus Gould - Does not deserve suspension, thought it was enough that he was sent from the field.
Jim Smith - Will get 4 weeks.

What an absolute JOKE.... They think it's fair that White hit Ross and they don't reckon Ross' hands were actually held - WHAT WERE THEY WATCHING!!!!

apart from sos, your all just biased supporters, in your eyes ross has done nothing wrong but in my eyes Ross is the dikhead and he deserved everything he got. If white hit kimmorley late, i would expect that one of our forwards would return the favor.

No worries Chikenhawk, I can understand how you feel I had to watch the game in a loungeroom with screaming kids running around plus the fact that two of them were supporting the Storm just to get back at my mate and myself who support the Sharks. Just wanted to grab the little brats by the neck but it was all in good fun. Guess who had the last laugh!

I don't agree Chunk67 - I've always said that Ross was the di*khead and he deserves to get the weeks that are coming.
