well dugan, minichello, brett morris, hayne all have played state of origin but currently not good enough to be selected at fullback or at all.. I mean thats the top tier of talent for NSW .... coote, michael gordon, will hopaote all play fullbacka at a level well above merritt.

Sad thing is thats only NSW players, there is another half dozen for QLD that are also a country mile better than him.

As for winger position, same thing he is still in the mid tier of average wingers. He lacks the size or strength or that something special abillity that takes him to that top tier that have the chance to play SOO

He was one of the form fullbacks of last season. Was the leading try scorer there as well if you dont remember.
And if it wasnt for his 1% toe problem. He would of started the year at fullback for the Rabbits and would of killed it again. Its just unlucky that they moved GI (who is the best fullback going around at the moment.)To there while he is injured.

but you just have to look at his game on the weekend vs Coote one of the people you named, to see how much better Merritt is at fullback.

Girds don't bother, he is a certain type of race that jigsaw takes a fancy too, his opinion will never change.

As for coote, he is a solid player, it's just a shame the teams confidence is down, the team is ****, coote is struggling with consistent form but who could blame him, look bak to past years, the kid can play.

Everingham? I haven't seen any souths this year apart from sharks. I know he has scored his fair share of tries. How's the rest of his game?

jig is right on this occasion, merrit is way better than coote and hoppa, probably on par with flash gordon, but a way better try scorer.

Hoppa > Merritt.

Would only assume they meant right at this moment. I would prefer merrit over hoppa on the wing or full back(this year or last)
But hoppa is a superstar in waiting. More potential then those 3 guys put together

Idk there is just something about him that doesn't scream quality to me, yes he is good, would I want him in my team? Yes, but I am ok with him bit being in the origin squad, he is a freakish try scorer, but his all round round game isnt spectacular, he doesn't do the hard yards as often as he should and he ain't great in the air due to his height.

Still a good player though.

please id have hoppa any day of the week over merritt. Flash is twice the player merritt is. He is so much more damaging running, better defensively, more versatile and much tougher and speed wise they both up there.

Coote is playing on a crappy team but he is still another tough fullback who has that something that merritt for me does not have.

Im sorry i just cant believe people actually rate merritt anything better than an average fullback ther eis nothing special about him.
