From memory he played an awesome game against us bit last year when the dogs rolled us... let's hope he is going alright.

I read a report on the weekend that Wigan had pulled out of the chase for Bird

I disagree. Phelpsey is a good player, He just gets belted alot.

Good player though, has good pace and can play anywhere in the backline 1-6.

I personally wouldn't want him in change for a player like Greg Bird, who is a great defender and offers plenty in attack.

That's what Maitua is here for though... i'd prefer to do a swap for Bird with Phelps over sacking Bird, having him sue the club and then we go down the tubes because we pay out a multi-million dollar law suit.

The deal wa suppose tp be bird swap for phelps PLUS cash arrangement. If so that would be good for the Sharks.

mate I disagree, he is actually very good, a little soft but still very good with heaps of potential.

Would really add depth to your backline thats for sure

if you say so

I gotta go with peach on this one sandy. If Phelps comes he should be behind atleast Orcher, Filiga and Wright. We have some quality depth in the backs for a change and I really think its time to unearth this talent. This is one of the few recorded times that I have actually agreed with the Peach, savour it young man.

4 types of people here:

1) there are those who are gullable, stupid people who believe as portrayed in the media that for no reason greg bird attacked his beautiful sweet girlfriend by smashing a glass over her head, yelling abuse at her, and lying to everyone in site to cover his ass. They truly believe they are making positive change to humanity by destroying this bloke as publicly as possible and obviously dont want him at the club.

2) there are the pussys who think a bit more rationally, and arent sure what exactly happenned but are scared of the way their club will be portrayed and so demand his sacking because they are scared of how other people can criticise their team and themselves. Lets face it, weve all given bulldogs supporters ****e over the last few years for their off-field demeanours and nobody wants to be on the receiving end of this.

3) there are the slightly more rational people who think that a court of law is the know-all god whos decision will in no doubt prove his inoccense or guilt and are thus awaiting the verdict until they make their final decision on his overall persona. I have nothing against people in this category as it will inevitably determine whether he is playing with us in 09 and if they dont buy his statement he should be to blame for putting himself in this position.... even if that means he shouldnt be going out with a psycho bitch in the first place.

4) now id like to say this category is for the more intelligent (did i spell that right?) and cultured people on this planet but obviously im a dumb c__t who sits in this category so it is really hard to make this claim.... But lets face the facts - he has total support from her partner and her family. That is the only FACT that anyone knows of. 'Apparently' as described by the only insider on this forum, she attacked him and got bottled, she made him lie to the police. Has nobody ever met a psycho bitch? there are seriously millions of hot psycho bitches on this planet. I saw a chick deck her boyfriend at Southbound on the weekend, and when he got up and pushed her he got tackled by a bunch of heroes, it was funny as, but i think there are some similarities here. Now im not supporting girl bashers, i hate assholes that beat up on their mrs's, but why is it so hard to believe on this occassion it was her own fault?? I sit in this category and i may just be alone but i stand by my belief on this subject that greg bird is the victim and should be cleared of all wrong-doing and be an integral part of our 09 premiership winning team.

sorry to offend anyone and everyone.

Pretty good effort there ouch.

I think there is one between the last and second last category. This is those, like me who say, none of us know what exactly took place and therefore it would be imature and inappropriate to draw any conclusion or judgement about Birds innocence or guilt. People in thsi category accept the premise of innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, however equally they accept that the Sharks club has suspended Bird not based upon presuming his guilt inthis instance, but based upon a series of incidents over time which have in their viewed soiled their branding and risks both current and future sponsorship income, which the club must protect to ensure it's survival. We see Greg Bird not as a woman basher, but a very naughty boy, with social problems such as drining etc and a young man who has struggled to cope with his rise to footy fame. We see himas a young man who needs a kick up teh arse, put through counselling to develop his social skills and then he could return to footy. The issue for the Sharks is how long such a process could take and how do they measure his progress. How much money and salary cap do we put into a player we cannot return to the playing ranks until satisfied he has grown up enough to be trusted to represent the organisations branding in the community?

We would like to see Bird stay and go through such a program but equally are becoming more aware that this is a financially unviable option for teh Club we love.

In the end a stint in English Super League would perhaps be good for Greg. He can put this behind him, escape the media frenzy and when he returns resurect his career in the NRL.
