Apologies if there is already a thread about Peter Sharp. I searched but couldn't find one.

I know that it is early days in this saga, but what does everyone think?

From what I have seen the bloke impresses me. I know at the moment he doesn't have full control of the position but to me he brings a wealth of experience and at the moment he instils in me a sense of calmness.

What is his history?

Does anyone know what the players think of him?

If Flanno doesn't return would the players support him and and do we think he could be the man to lead us if Flanno is gone for good?

Just interested in what everyone thinks.

Peter Sharp is an Australian professional rugby league coach. He is currently the interim coach of the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in Australia's National Rugby League.

Sharp has been the head coach of the Northern Eagles and the Manly Sea Eagles from 1999 to 2003 and has also been an assistant coach at the Parramatta Eels, Newcastle Knights and Melbourne Storm.

Sharp signed with Hull in April 2006, on a two-and-a-half-year contract.[1] He replaced sacked coach John Kear.[2] Sharp left the club in 2008 by mutual consent after the club won only 4 of their opening 14 games of the season.

Sharp joined the Cronulla Sharks as assistant coach after the end of the 2011 season.[3]

Not a great record, I think interim or assistant is where he should stay. Having said that the northern eagles were a bit of a basket case and Flanno's record isn't that flash either but last season was good

I personally think his great for an assistant coach role bu wouldn't like to see him as our head coach.

I don't think he is interested in a head coach type role
I'm sure I read somewhere he just wants to take a back seat type role

So was Phil Hughes one day cricket record..... until he played beyond his second game :p

Then at this moment the world is our oyster...(coach wise anyway... The other stuff is a bit of a worry....)

Sharp has already said, in the presser after the Titans game, that he doesn't want the job.

That only proves (Catch 22 style) that he isn't insane....maybe he's the right man for the job...

Anyone knocking back the prospect of a FG coaching gig is obviously not the sort of candidate you want

They either don't feel they have the abilities or have other priorities such as having a life :D. Let's leave it be

He obviously said he doesn't want the job because Flanno wants his job back.
If Sharp said he had ambitions of being the Head Coach, he'd lose the playing group, as they too want Flanno back.

If it becomes clear that Flanno isn't coming back, expect Mr Sharp to seriously consider the top job if it's offered to him fulltime.

He appears to be a old school type of bloke & I presume he's coaching style is that way as well, I can imagine he would be a popular bloke within the club & amonst the playing group.

I like the way he is addressing the media on all fronts. I will always look at him fondly after doing so.

I don't think that's obvious at all. Not everyone wants the stress and pressure associated with being a first grade coach.
