I am 19 and work in a bar in Ipswich, QLD. Two locals that drink in the bar are both just over 50, and are absolutely mad cronulla sharks supporters. we made a pact early in the year that if the sharks are in the grand final, we will be there.

we have got quotes for plane tickets, and are looking forward to the sharkies knocking off either broncos or melbourne (i think broncos beat storm btw) and advancing to the grand final of 2008.

Being so far away (and have little idea of the cronulla/sydney district etc) we are seeking any assistance people can offer, such as any tips on accommodation, what will be happening after the grand final (eg. how to get to the leagues club etc etc), or anyother tips or information on what other cronulla supporters will or may be doing.

our plan at this stage would be to fly down on the sunday and leave on the monday, obviously incredibly hungover and hopefully with the ultimate satisfaction of witnessing our teams first ever premiership!

obviously alot of this sort of information may not be available until the grand final teams are known and we arent getting ahead of ourselves. the fact is we have to organise and arrange this from 10000kms away and as im sure there are other supporters in this forum from outside of sydney, can we please use this forum as an information base for all those "out of town" sharkies fans.

thanks guys.

You might get some tips from this thread chikka.

BUZAdvice is to book accomodation now. If something goes wrong (ie You break a leg and can't make it) you can always cancel the booking and share the cancellation cost (if any) between the 3 of you. Not too much of a risk.

In two weeks time, every man and his dog is gonna be searching for Shire accomodation over GF weekend.

The hot tip is that there wont be much sleeping going on in the Shire after the GF anyway, but I guess a strapping young lad like yourself needs somewhere to take the Shire honey babes back to ;).

When you say you're planning to leave on the Monday...........You mean the 13th right?

Here's another link that may help

No kidding you're not from the Shire! What will be happening after the Grand Final, especially if we win, is that the Shire will be going into meltdown!:cheers

If you want to know how to get to the Leagues club, just follow the guard of honour from the Captain Cook bridge to Shark Park! If you thought Newcastle put on a good reception after their first premiership, you aint seen nothin' yet!

One things for sure, it will be one a hell of a party and the more the merrier. Hope to see you there!:cheers

Don't want to seem negative but we have to get to the GF first guys....

doesn't hurt to be prepared though mate.

i admire your dedication boys!

everyone should get here if we're on, its gunna go off!!!

i'd look at staying at the cronulla caravan park, i think they just got some new cabins too.
from there you can walk to the club (about 25-30mins) and i'm sure there'll be busloads going from there.

if buses aren't your thing, catch the train from woolooware to/from homebush. its a 5-10min walk down the hill to the club.

In reality, even for travelling supporters, you are going to need to be a Leagues club member to get into the club on GF day if we make it. They will be very strict and obviously can't just let anyone in. I would suggest you get your membership sorted out if not already, and perhaps join one of the member packages of the football club, black white and blue, loungechair membership etc. Small cost but I'm sure you will be happy you joined when there are 5000 people wanting to get in and only members are allowed.

I'm planning on being there too for the game. I'll ride up on the Friday, stay at my uncles place in Caringbah, and enjoy a fantastic night on the 5th.

Being a Melbourne based supporter, I've loved today at work, listening to all the storm fans crying foul. Here's looking to them being out in straight sets.

Go Sharkies!
