Yep. All good and well to put those stats up but all it says to me is that neither of our hookers are much chop. I think Wilson is in the minority when he suggests we look better when Morris comes on. For the majority of the year we dropped a gear when DeGois was replaced. MB, can you find a line break credited to Morris this year? I couldn't find one. Morris may not miss many tackles but he doesn't make too many dominant ones either. DeGois attacks in defence and that leads to misses.

With the caliber of member on this site, being in the minority is a good thing.

Not trying to insult you Wilson. I've come to agree with you on most things but John Morris is still the sticking point. No line breaks and 1 try assist for the year is very, very poor for your bench hooker. We won't go to the next level carrying both him and Robson IMO.

It's interesting that going off those season stats, he looks like a far better defender but worse attacker (at least worse creativity anyway).

May point to starting Morris and using him for the softening up period and letting De Gois be the impact guy.

The stats may say otherwise because of his aggressive style of defense leading to missed tackles (which also include ankle taps), but when the opposition is close to our line, I'd trust De Gois over Morris every day of the week.

those stats dont show the most important role of the hooker which is engaging the markers and giving forwards quality ball

If lichaa played under 18 rep last year, that makes him still eligible for Toyota cup this year? If so, contrary to my earlier post, I'd leave him there. Do him good and the players around him.

My original idea was to find away to get Tupou/Fafita/Bukuya and Heighington all in the same side(off the bench) imo All of these would have a greater overall impact on the field than JM....... is it feasible to go like this...... i dont know enough about heighingtons ball skills.

But

Degois gets an increased load 65 min of the game (which I think is a must) Heighington Plays a normally totated off the bench 40 -60 min but he plays hooker dummy half to give degois a breather.

Im thinking 15 min of heighington in the role is better than 40 min of jm

Gibby, I like the title of your thread but Heighington at dummy half is some crazy ****. If you were going to play a backrower at 9 for 15 to 20 minutes then the only option we have is Peachey who is a very dangerous player. Won't happen though.

You're complaining that JM is ineffective at hooker, but you want Heighington to play there?

If that happens, we certainly will have a BIG problem at hooker.

fair call..im just trying to come up with a plan that would allow four impact guys on the bench..

its a shame one will miss out......and the only way that will happen is if degois steps up

When you think about it we had a bloody good year when you consider we got nothing from our fullback and not much from our hookers, two of the most important positions on the field offensively.

Its not a shame really. Put one of them in the lower grades, keep all the boys on their toes and you gotta keep performing or you will be the one sitting out.

Its the benefit of having quality depth.

We do have a problem at hooker: we can't get them both playing well at the same time. Both of them played some really good footy this year, but we rarely got 80 minutes of quality. I reckon De Gois was playing injured later in the year; he just wasn't the same player.

All these players we have coming are back rowers or wingers. Poms gets a spot on one side as he held his own this year. Ricky or Gordon get the other. Until we sign someone better than pomeroy or as long as he is in form he stays in the side. I'm the first to admit he can have a shocker of a game. But so can any of our players. The problem is that even when he did play well you still couldn't admit it. It sounds more of a personal hatred of the bloke than football related to be honest.
