Anyone got a pen?

The Wests Tigers are on the hunt for a new chief executive to replace Steve Noyce, and don't be surprised if they turn their attention to the Sharks' Tony Zappia. It defies belief but the Sharks have not signed Zappia to a contract, so he can walk out the door whenever he wants. The former Parramatta football manager has impressed many in the Shire in his first five months in the job. Cronulla cannot afford to lose him.

if we lose him. we're fukd. he has been doing some very good business for us since he joined and i would be real pissed off if he left. but simply why would he leave? hes started a new era it seems with ricky which looks to have us in a good spot for the future. i wouldnt see the reason why he'd want to go anywhere

Sounds like you've got your head screwed on too bort.

It's common practice for strongly motivated businesspeople to not be contracted.

Consider it from Zappias' perspective..........The CEO that turns the Sharks fortunes (financial.........as well as Premiership) around could then shop themself around as 'The One Who Performs Miracles'.

He's put his head on the block by not signing a contract. If he fails........his career slows for the short term............If he succeeds, his name in business is set up for life.

If he performs while not on a contract, every day his $ value increases, if he doesn't perform then he shoots himself in the foot.

Sounds like a self motivator in action to me.

Mate I think you have just hit the nail on the head as they say. I am doing a degree in business and economics and if I was Zappia I would be doing the same thing. He already has a good reputation from Parramatta so if he doesnt go too well in the Shire he will still be able to land good jobs, but if he gets the club into its best position ever, he becomes a legend and can get any job he wants.

i kinda considered what you guys (BUZ and Dutchie) are saying when i first saw it, but was to bothered by the club being wanks and not contracting him (to prevent him bailing at the 1st sign of trouble/success) to bother thinking about it more, so thanks for doing the thinking for me
