NSW Cup go down to Shellharbour

Team went down 18-22 after leading 18-10. Best player for the Sharks was Josh Lewis. Worse news though is that Reece Williams may of played his final game after collapsing again and was taken to hospital. Poor wombat..best of luck and wish a speedy recovery.

Bloody hell poor Reece! Horrid run of injuries the last few years, I wish him the best and hope it is nothing life (disability etc) or career threatening..

Geez, I hope it was only heat related and nothing to serious.
I wish him well.

Apparently the game was paused for over an hour or something while the ambo's came and treated him... sounds horrendous, just hope he hasn't done any life-long damage- don't think we'll be seeing him on the field again.

Can't really blame the boys for losing that one given those circumstances.

Otherwise puma, how did Vave and Flanagan go?

TT played solid and needs to be in first grade. Only problem is not sure if he can play 80mins...Vave kept going forward but not ready for FG especially as we up agianst Souths forwards and Flanagan played well.....
Best player was Lewis...

Agree 100% with that.

One thing though it took at least 20 minutes before the "First Response" paramedic got there to attend to Reece Williams, who was quite obviously convulsing on the field. Then another 5 minutes before the ambulance arrived and then a third team arrived on the scene.

Once upon a time we needed to have NSW ambluance or StJohns Ambulance in attendence for games to be played (for insurance purposes/ and player safety). Is this a thing of the past? If so then surely there should be some sort of obligation on behalf of the hosting team to provide some sort od medical assistance.

Another thing....as summer conditions seem to be persisting, would it not be in players interest to have a drinks break in the middle of each half considering the heat and dehydration factors.

thanks mate,
how was your night on saturday

A different result would have been nice, but still an enjoyable evening sitting with the guys and girls of the CSSC. Even got a free ticket courtesy of Matty Wright's uncle! :cheers

NSW CUP:

The Hisense Sharks NSW Cup side took on the Shellharbour Dragons at Ron Costello Oval on Sunday afternoon and unfortunately came away with more than a 22-18 loss.

Having scored a try in the match, Sharks second rower, Reece Williams, later suffered a heavy concussion after being tackled with the ball.

Williams suffered a blood clot and bruising on the brain following a series of head knocks last season, and was taken to Wollongong Hospital this time round as a precautionary measure. The concussion is, however, unrelated to his previous head injuries and he has since been taken to St Vicnents Hospital.

"Obviously it's terrible news but it's too early at this stage to know how serious it is," Sharks NSW Cup coach, Tony Herman said.

"The guys are pretty upset about it at the moment, there's a lot of concern across the club."
