I doubt there will be a huge crowd in attendance and it's at Mt Smart no.2, so the big sharks flags shouldn't be too difficult to spot! How many of you are coming over for the game?

Great commitment and I know the guys will appreciate it. Hopefully they come away with the two points against a Vulcans side that got pumped by Wentworthville on the weekend.

yeah which will make them more hungry

the Vulcans seem to play well at home but struggle when travelling.

we should have Green back but will miss Goodwin, Donnelly and Misi

Yeah it was a great second half effort; from a personal viewpoint it was also nice to catch up with fellow Sharks fans at the game and to be invited back into the sheds afterwards to join in singing Up Up Cronulla. An awesome bunch of guys and I hope they give the finals a real shake; get out and support them when you can, next game is at home against Balmain-Ryde on 22 August.

I did actually Peach, all of the players came over and shook hands with us after the game and asked us back to the sheds, I think they really appreciated the support. Simmo had a pretty good game from fullback, scored a try, saved a try with a good covering tackle near the corner flag and was safe in the air as usual. There seems to be a real good spirit in this side, you would think that guys like Simmo and Blake Green who aren't playing first grade and won't be at the club next season could be excused for wanting to be elsewhere, but that wasn't evident at all and you coud see how stoked they were to come away with the points. And why wouldn't they be, after all the NSW cup side is the only one in the club with a chance of playing finals footy this season.

Sharks vs Balmain Ryde NSW Cup will be 4.30pm at Toyota on Saturday August 22nd after the JL semi finals.
3 wins to finish the regular season will see the boys finish in 2nd position for the finals. Was a big effort yesterday with only Blake Green and Dave Simmons playing from the FT squad.
Of the 7 losses the team has had this year, 5 of those fixtures are losses by a total of 17points. They have still to learn how to win in clutch situations.

just got back

just gotta say the boys had a great 2nd half, Tony Caine was our best, had a hand in five of the seven tries, Daniel Rauicava was our best back and ate metres at will.

was great to meet up with MegaShark, a real passionate sharks fan.

Sharks NSW Cup Win

The Sharks NSW Cup team has bounced back from last week’s narrow loss to register a 38 – 22 win against the Auckland Vulcans in New Zealand

Sharks NSW Cup Win
August 10, 2009

After an arduous 36 hour trip to play the Auckland Vulcan’s at Mount Smart Stadium the Sharks NSW cup team has returned to Australia victorious.

The Vulcans got away to a great start scoring first. Aided by strong wind this was followed by 3 tries and the Vulcans headed to the break with a 22-14 lead.

In the second half the Sharks made the most of the wind by scoring 4 converted tries to secure the 38 – 22 win. The Sharks were led around by a strong halves combination with both Blake Green and Eddie Paea crossing for tries.

Coach Alex Melville was impressed with the win and rated Tim Weyman, Dan Rauicava and Inoke Tapaatouti as the Sharks best.

Next weekend the Sharks have the bye. The following weekend they face Balmain Ryde at Toyota Stadium. When the teams last met the Sharks were defeated in a tight encounter. Saturday week they will look to avenge that loss and aim to secure a top 2 finish. It will be a tough encounter, both teams will be coming off wins this weekend and the Tigers will be looking to secure a place in the top 8.

Sharks 38
Beat
David Simmons; Matt Cooper; Filiga Filiga[2]; Blake Green; Tony Caine; Eddie Paea, Paea 5 goals

Vulcans 22
D Kemp; S Metcalf; P Godinet; W McKinnon, Kemp 3 goals
