We played a bit of 2018 Tigerball last night.

1 try, a few penalty goals and tackle your arse off.

Can someone who has all the games compare the halves combo's. Hodko and chad vs moylan and chad. Which one was best?

I prefer Chad and Hodko but the sample size is too small and the fact they got a win makes it a little unfair.

But Moylan would play the same from fullback anyway, so it comes down to losing Dugan at fullback which is a shame, and losing Ramien/Gray, which isn't a shame really. On balance I would stick with Hodko. No chance of that happening though imo. Flanno will put Moylan back at six.

I think the stats speak for themselves. We had 1 try, and one linebreak. Nothing really expensive or creative about that halves combo, but we had less penalties conceded and less errrors. I wouldn’t want him as my first choice half, but he is someone you can bring up when things are going wrong, and you need to stick to a simple game plan.

Hodko is just a really good buy for us. Was safe as houses.

How long is Moylan out for? We may see more from Hodko yet?

Yep this is why he was a good depth buy for Flanno, he's also experienced and could cover an injured Chad without much hassle. Chad would need some stinkers to be under serious threat from Hodko in Flanno's eyes though.
Moylan will slot straight back into 6 once fit. It took Maloney a fair chunk of 2016 to get going in our setup and he was a more experienced 5/8 than Mozza

Hodko/Chad might do the job on a one off or the odd game but it's hardly a dynamic partnership. If we stuck with it week on week teams would figure them out before long and it probably wouldn't take much to shut them down. It's a different story with Moylan in the mix - Moylan will make Chad better and vice versa

Regardless once Moylan hit's his straps though no one will be entertaining this Hodko/Chad pairing

yes im agreeing moylan will be huge for the team when he gets going. I like hodgko too. If Chad has a slump he is in danger of a stint at Newtown.

Game 1 - forward pack got dominated. Terrible completion rate. Very little opportunity for the halves.

Game 2 - Chad/Moylan linked very well for half a game and then the team got the sticky hands mixed up with the Palmolive at half time. Zero chance for the halves to create.

Game 3 - team got through their completions. The only try was created by 3 forwards and the kicking was shared around amongst Brailey, Graham and the halves. This made for much better shape and much better finishes to the set. Leutele saw more quality ball in this game than the previous two and could have had a try. They tried several times to run plays for Dugan on the left but nothing came of it. Dugan was great postionally but was less of a link player this game and more of a hole runner. Imo they just tried to keep things simple. I’d like to see how that goes with Moylan back.

I can’t remember Graham having a better night with the boot on Saturday. Too often we see him kick it dead, but he seemed to have his radar on this game.
