Tapine is injured and probably won't play. Did something to his hand. He's a handy player so it's good for us

On a selection note, do we think Brailey could handle a full game to run 4 forwards on the bench? I think we need to match the monster Canberra pack although Brailey will probably get targeted through the middle he'd be tired and less potent having to make 40+ tackles. Would like to see Trex get a run this week just give him the ball and tell him to run as hard and fast as he can.

The way to play Canberra is to have smaller guys running from dummy half rather than trying to match their big boppers. It worked a treat in the 2 wins against them last season (note that the didn't play that way in the loss - Flano put the playbook away over that last 7 weeks). I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Cherrington picked as the bench hooker ahead of Nu in this one. His running game would be a good fit.

Sharks mail: Cronulla are expected to unleash Tony Williams after a strong showing for Newtown on the weekend.

Meanwhile, fullback Valentine Holmes missed last week’s season opener due to a hamstring injury he suffered during a pre-season trial but is a red hot chance of returning on Saturday.

While Holmes could be ready to return on Saturday, Shane Flanagan said he’s prepared to wait another week if there is any hint of doubt from his medical staff.

“He’d be very close to play,” Flanagan said. “The other concern we have is the high speed running Val does. I’d shoot myself if he came back and injured himself again and he’s out for a long period of time, it’s one of those things, let’s get it right. If he’s not 100 per cent we won’t play him.”

Predicted Round 2 Sharks team: Valentine Holmes, Sosaia Feki, Jack Bird, Ricky Leutele, Edrick Lee, James Maloney, Chad Townsend, Andrew Fifita, Jayden Brailey, Matt Prior, Luke Lewis, Wade Graham, Paul Gallen. Interchange: Jayson Bukuya, Chris Heighington, Sam Tagataese, Tony Williams. 18th and 19th man: Gerard Beale, Kurt Capewell

Also of note is that in the Round 1 presser Flanno said of Brailey when asked about his minutes: "he could have played the 80", and "the plan this week was for him to play 60"

Not excited about T-Rex at all, but if Flanno wants to rotate guys through that 4th bench spot it's not going to be a huge impact on the team.

Not confident with this one. It'll be the clapper's revenge, they'll win and act like it was a GF.

I hate it when the clap comes back 6 Months later!

He's no Mick Ennis, I hope we see Seggy soon I think him and Brailey would be a perfect combo but we need an 80 minute hooker.

Apparently he had a good game for newtown last week, don't know how he'll crack the side though. We still have Jeremy Latimore in reserves too, I thought I remember him being decent.

Mick Ennis at 20 was no Mick Ennis. Segyaro is no Mick Ennis. Move on. If we are going to be successful this year it won't be by trying to make someone else play like Ennis. It will be by best utilizing the skillsets of the available players.

Mick Ennis at the Bulldogs was no Mick Ennis, he kicked up a notch when Flanno let him play what was in front of him. Such a good pick up.

Must be hard for training and coaching staff with regard to hammys and groins etc. I'm sure most of us on here have done them in the past (please note I am in no way a finely tuned athlete) and you think you are right to go. No matter how many training runs you have you simply cant replicate game time. Whilst I hope Val plays I have my doubts he will

Don't bother playing him. We are gonna get bent over either way.

Save him another week for that beautiful sunday arvo game we got coming up against the saints. Unleash him then
