Taga needs to game in NSW cup minimum. I dunno how someone his size can be so soft in comparison to some of those smaller fellas. His hands are slippery as **** also. He has the most simple job on the field, he should be better
His hands **** me. Dead set touches the ball **** all and drops it half the time he does touch it!

Yeah I think the Taga experiment is done and dusted to be honest. Time to get another prop.

When he drops it, it's either the set after points or 10m out of the opposition try line.

It feels like he always drops it at the worst of times.

It is a damn shame that D Fifita and Jesse Sene-Lefao aren't in selectable form. Ideally they are picked over Taga and Paulo.

If they were in even just their form from last year you'd go with:

8 - A. Fifita
9 - Ennis
10 - Prior
11 - Lewis
12 - Graham
13 - Gallen
14 - Bukuya
15 - D. Fifita
16 - Sene-Lefao
17 - Heighington / Utility

I remember last year D Fifita was almost at A Fifitas level but only for shorter stints, and Sene-Lefao was carving us up when we played Manly.

I agree it is a problem we need to fix if we are to be grand finalists.
I thought the newtown coach said recently that David Fifita ripping in and cutting them up?

Re Taga, surely the coaching staff are into him about his error count, he has a guarantee error every game, the second one he made on Saturday was probably Ennis as much as Taga but the earlier one was all Taga.

Nice to win when playing a fair way below our best, that's a sign of a good team.

Ive been critical of our falling asleep period, but i feel like on saturday it was a case of manly actually coming to life for 20-30 minutes. Once we managed to get that momentum back we didnt look like losing.

I felt like the ruck was very poorly officiated though.

Bizzarly even at 12 all I still felt like we would win, never feel that during a manly game.

This. The commentators were saying manly completed 14 of 15 sets in a row during their three try stint and didn't give away a penalty in that time. Pretty hard to build any pressure when a teams doing that

There seems to be whinging about the refs after every one of our matches. Imagine if we were losing!

No idea. I am only going off his non selection.
Pretty sure he was a big presence in some Newtown wins in the last month. I actually thought he was going to play against Manly as a result. He may come into the team if Bird makes origin. I reckon Flanno has kept a centre on the bench partly so the team is not disrupted when Bird plays origin. If Beale and Leutele can't fit into the run on side I think we'll see the end of the centre on the bench set up IMO.

Hey Chogm, not at the halfway point of the season yet but getting close, what's your opinion of Barba thus far?

Are you converted?

I cannot believe Barretts comments! Manly played one of the most negative games I've seen in a long time. They just got numbers into every tackle and tried to slow down the play the ball to a snails pace all day. They could have had 5-10 more go against them IMO.

Here we go. Yes mate I am converted and I've eaten my hat over this one. And it gives me great pleasure to say I was wrong as I watch what I believe may already be the best 1-7 in the clubs history. I will say this however, as a kind of defence for my clearly rubbish judgement. I'm a big believer in attitude playing as big a part as ability in any sporting arena, and this was always my main concern with Barba. That he didn't have his head right to ever get back to where he was in 2012. Recent events may suggest he still has a way to go, fingers crossed it's been nipped in the bud.

When Townsend was playing NSW cup for us I said on more than one occasion that we needed to put him in firsts and stick with him because he has the right attitude, he knows how to win, having won a comp in practically every age group since he was 5 years old or something crazy like that. I think we're now seeing that come to fruition, and the club is very lucky that he has found his way back. I think he'll play in the halves at this club for a very long time. He is the perfect example of a player having the right attitude IMO.

Yeh, agree with a lot of what you said, wasn't having a go, I just remember you weren't that fussed on him prior to season starting, don't worry mate, nobody gets things wrong more than me as a judge, I was a big believer Blake Ayshford would go well for us...........................
