Yeah - Bomber commented on it in the presser.

Sharks got 0 set restarts for holding down etc. They got one for a bloke being offside.

Either the Dragons are the most disciplined team in the history of the league or the refereeing was poor.
I don’t get the way they police the ruck now. If you get three in a tackle and stacks on like the dragons did yesterday you get rewarded because the ref gives you more time to clear. If you tackle with one or two, the ref expects a faster clearance and penalises when it doesn’t happen. It shouldn’t matter. After “held” there should be reasonably consistent amount of time to clear the ruck. Because isn’t the point of set restarts to speed up the play the ball. Or atleast stop it being slowed down.

Yesterday you could hear the ref say “all off together”, but it often didn’t happen, they did the one by one peel. and there was no penalty.

And why is it fine for the defender to hang on to the attacker well after held when they’re both standing, which happens to Wade and woods all the time, yet it’s a problem if they’re both on the ground. Defenders holding on to the upper body of the attacker when they standing and trying to bend over and play the ball is rarely penalised. I don’t get it.

And as Bomber said with about 130 more tackles not once did they stay in too long.
From memory there were about 3 or 4 times I strongly thought it should have been 6 again for us. Also thought there were 1 or 2 other things we could have got done for so I guess it evens out a bit. Dragons obviously knew exactly where that refs line was.

Did anyone else feel like the Ramsey no try was more of a let off because it was awarded then reviewed by bunker in background than old style call try on field but actively send to bunker? End of the day outcomes should be exactly the same.

One thing I haven't heard much mention of is how many points we scored. First round, in those conditions, with no SJ... most were thinking our attack would be useless. We ended up scoring the equal second most points. We showed we can get into good attacking position and grab a few meet pies

Didn’t actually realise that

Even against a weaker team I’ll take that, especially with best attacking player and two good forwards out.

Definitely good to score points but let's be honest, some of them were absolute gifts.

Yep. 14-0 up at half time off two dragons mistakes. We may well have scored if those had become repeat sets instead, but they were not convincing tries to start off.

The Dragons rightly screwed things up, for sure, but the play leading up to those opportunities for the Dragons to make a mess of things was pretty good. Just what you'd want in those conditions really. Work your way into attacking position and keep getting the ball into their ingoal. Score points or wear them down in the heavy going, it's a win/win. They just happened to gift us a few this time

As a game to watch / spectacle I was actually enjoying the lack of set restarts along with the try's being called straight away - felt like there was some flow and we were just getting on with things
