Sorry, thought you were talking about the last game.

Yeah I agree, his kicking was ordinary against Newcastle but that's an outlier.

Don't know why you feel the need to bring that up when his kicking game has been very good otherwise. Better than Nicho.

It was very recent and also represented the last time he was in charge. Seems relevant to people wanting him to be put in charge more.

If he wants more responsibility there is onus on him to not cock it up when he gets it.

Why aren't you mentioning the game against the Cows?

Pretty negative focusing on one game.

Nico has said for a while that he wants to be the main man of a team which is clearly is for ours. With that comes lots of pressure and i wonder how much pressure he puts on himself to deliver which leads to overplaying his hand.
The other day Nicho said something like “one day I guess the bad things will happen to me(negative on field form)”

A few times his words have basically translated to I’m good and expects things to kind of happen in a good way because of this.

Fitz says things like Nicho needs to rein it in abit but then Nicho will go and do it again

I might be reading into it too much but I think he needs to be humbled a little bit by the coach - He should not be given the keys especially so early in his career, he has not earnt anything except the best solo award you can get but in a team game that means 0 (not taking anything away from him, just facts)

He shouldn’t have his head in the clouds at all, I love him but he plays and talks like he wants to be the man when in reality the actual men do it regularly and in big games too and one key thing they do is make others around them look better - he’s not special and he shouldn’t be treated as such, he’s been labelled the golden boy without getting dirty and that is very unlike Cronulla Sharks, we’ve never been a one man team. Even in 16 we share the attention and we share the success

We got humbled by a roosters team without a majority of their stars on our own home ground in a knock out final - that should never happen

I’m not mentioning a lot of things

But I guess…
He wasn’t halfback against the cows
They are a bottom 8 side
It is longer ago

If he didn’t want people to be able to point to a relevant game he sucked in, he shouldn’t have sucked in it.

Yes, he did kick well in Cows game.

Give Trindall a shot at halfback and move Hynes to five eighth, then Hynes will have no choice but to reign it in because he wont be on the ball all the time. From their gel and get the balance right

I just can’t get behind ‘give our best player the ball less and our weaker player the ball more’ as a legitimate strategy no matter how many times someone promises me Trindall is a ‘traditional halfback’ and better game manager

Nicho, like any half, performs better when his forwards are steamrolling and creating space.

Like mentioned elsewhere, our forwards had a bad run with injuries.

And I reckon we need an additional big tough nut to complete our pack.

We're probably not going to get one, so I hope we have a better run with injuries and suspensions next year.

Regardless, I think the Broncos are at the start of a 5 year reign. Even if the panthers manage to pop them this year, they won't the next.

Re: we need a prop
Agree, but I’m hopeful it will happen internally. We had no props who started the season with >100 games played, we’re actually quite an inexperienced middle.
As of now (and including the locks)
Finucane 248
Mcinnes 178
Williams 99
Hamlin-Uele 99
Kaufusi 90
Rudolf 81
Hunt 56

Seen good signs from a number of these guys - hoping a few can kick up the consistency a notch next season. BHU, our most experienced ‘true prop’ missed the final.
A better prop than BHU and Rudolf won’t come cheap and that money has to come from somewhere (yes I know we can just release all the unpopular players)

On Broncos, Herbie and Flegler are not inconsequential losses although they have some promising guys coming through. Reynalds just getting older though and as we saw from his departure from South’s, he’s not an easy replace. Maybe we will let them have Trindall after Dykes takes his jersey…

Kaufusi 90??? They way he is going he won't peak until game 350. If you told me 30 I would probably cut him some slack.

He is the youngest in the list by a fair bit, in a position which is well known to peak at an older age.
Younger than Hazelton even.

Had a bad year but I’m not convinced he a wrote off. Hoping he takes the challenge to stay in the 17 very seriously through off season.

I hope he becomes a Superstar but surely after 90 games your having more 8/10 performances than 2/10 - regardless of your age.

Fitz confirmed in the presser that Wade made the call on taking the 2 and that all the players on the bench were signalling the same thing. Fitz said something about trying or wanting to get a signal down to the players (which I think was also for the 2 but I can't remember exactly)

There were no guarantees we were going to score again in that game and Teddy only had about 50 seconds left of the sin bin.

Was the right call IMO and probably would have been irrelevant had we kicked our goal conversions and Brailey didn't have those moments he did

As for over ruling a coach - Fifita on occasion (love the big fella) but Gal was the king. He didn't give a ****, take the tap, take the 2 whatever he ran the club basically haha and no one dared tell him otherwise.

I think of all the players Sticky coached Gal was the only one that made him think twice

If we were 6 up already id be all for the 2. I thought it was an absolutely weak move when we had them down their end a man down.

Back your defence, thats fine but they butchered the position they out themselves in by conceding that next try

Not sure I see the Broncos reign going that long. It’ll go as long as Reynolds is there and before the cap destroys the team. They’re already losing Flegler and Herbie which are decent loses.

It may not necessarily be a good strategy for the Sharks, but there are examples of successful teams who played this way. "Lesser player" does the micro management and the "better player" picks his moments.

With no numbers to back it up, I'd guess that...

- Sezer had more touches than Wighton
- Townsend had more touches than Maloney
- Prince had more touches than Benji

I could be wrong though.
