Yep, at first it was like “oh Nichos a likeable guy” but now the media use his words against him when he has a bad game
Time to walk the walk. Talking only goes so far

I ****in love the guy. But its time to **** the naysayers up, or hes just gunna keep copping it.

I wouldnt even entertain the origin talk. Id say, nah im not thinking about it, cos if i get picked its only because your first choice guys are out, then if we lose, no matter the circumstances, im the scapegoat.

The carry on after game 1 last year where they played the entire game 13v12 was actually disgusting from the media
don’t think the media has an agenda against Nicho, if it did he wouldn’t have as many good stories as he does (a lot) more than any other player tbh.. He is good for clicks and praised often (when he’s not playing bad)

What doesn’t work is he talks a big game then doesn’t execute when it’s time, if his own fans are over it imagine what it does to fans who don’t like Sharks.

Easy target

I pray to whoever is listening that there are no more off field discretions..
I hear you.... But my head says .. Tick tick tick tick... Trick. I hope he is up to it - with Atko gone, there is less safety net this year.

"I just want to let my footy do the talking this year," Hynes said.

"I'm in a happy place. I just want to make sure the Sharks are in a position to be winning a premiership, and that's all I really care about ... I just want to go out there and play footy and be a happy man.

"If things happen off the back of that, then they do. If not, then so be it ... It's out of my control. They didn't want me there; I'm not there. If they wanted me there, I'd be there. I'm a realist, and this is how it is."

"I got to train for the Sharks [on Saturday]," he said.

"We had a good training session [at Shark Park].

"Nothing can stop me from being how happy I am and how much I'm looking forward to playing for the Sharks."

Funny how these articles keep blaming him for the 24 Origin loss played almost entirely down a man, which apparently is not pertinent information
It’s a joke now. He didn’t even play that bad. He was a lot better than Luai was in that game yet nothing gets mentioned there.

It's funny how the media get salty with a player when that player starts to give them the cold shoulder or act aggressive in interviews as if that very same media hasn't been throwing that player under the bus and wasting everyone's time with inane, obvious and uninteresting / irrelevant questions.

Just because as media journos it's their job to ask questions and write reports (which is always their reasoning) doesn't mean they have to do the job as **** as possible but it's an issue that goes well beyond NRL.

Nicho has never declared he is entitled to be a rep player or that he is going to carve up in that arena just that he simply aspired to perform at that level and has been honest about not delivering to a level he is happy with but the media keep pressing that button cause they got nothing else to talk about or **** stir with.

Nicho was in such phenomenal club form when he first got selected for Origin I think the expectations were just so high on him to save the Blues bacon which wasn't fair.

They are lucky Nicho has been so respectful and a class act with all his public dealings but please Nicho no more stepping up talk, just go put your head down and do it. Fluff pieces are not gunna turn your form around, only hard work and application along with some flexibility to the role you play in a team (which he started to show later part of 2024).

The media are not your friends.

I do think we are putting a lot more importance on what he takes away from his couple of minutes answering questions than we know he does.
It's just part of the job, he answers how he wants and then moves on. It's the hounding and negativity that messes him up if anything, the exact content of the hounding likely has very little impact.

We know he's a pretty forthright and open bloke, having some line he feels forced to repeat is just as likely to play on his mind than just speaking it and moving on would.

What quote the media throw back in his face or pick two words out of or whatever is pretty minimal vs blaming him for losing games without some pretty damn important context.

You can just put his name and an unrelated quote in a headline if you need to. Nicho gets clicks.
