I thought he played well enough individually to dispel the idea that he is not up to it, or can’t handle the pressure. But not well enough to say he doesn’t need serious coaching.

Not sure if it's coaching or just experience (prob both). DCE didn't hit his prime until about 30 and he was playng halfback way earlier than Hynes.

Yep good point, I guess I mean he shouldn’t be considered above needing strong direction (and I doubt either him or Fitzy does)

Rightly or wrongly he's carrying too much of the mental load at the moment. Between Brailey, Tricky and Tracey/Kennedy, Nicho is working with a relatively young spine, and he's the only one who's rep quality.

We need another superstar.

We also lack hardened rep player experience, even moreso next year now Wade has gone.

Apart from Dale and probably Nikora who else has that 'hardened' rep experience?

Think back to 2016, we had a tonne of them.

Yep. We're a long way from proper seasoned hardened ****s like Gal, Lewy, Fifita, Ennis, Maloney.

Dale is past it (was never a rep mainstay anyway) & NZ doesn't offer the same opportunity regularly like Origin.

You don't need a superstar to tell you that when you are behind by a point in a tight final , not to leave it until 5th tackle two sets in a row when in the opposition 20 with a couple of minutes left to take a field goal attempt to even up the score . We didn't need to send the Rosters a text message to tell them , everyone in the stadium knew in advance we needed to go for a field goal as we had run ourselves out of options on the 5th tackle .

It wasn't too much " mental load " , just poor game management again .

Great, so we agree.

Superstar, winner, someone who makes the right moves at the right times - whatever you want to call it.

Fact is every member of our spine is guilty of making the wrong decision too often.

Ironically, we could have used a couple of Gal's 4th tackle hit ups towards the end instead of going side to side.

Hynes 14 kicks
Tricky 5

That's criminal.
I agree. Nicho's kicking her been pretty poor the last month or so.

Although... the calls are to ease his load by taking out his plate the goal kicking, captaincy, general play kicking and steering the team around... that's a lot on Tricky. How is he capable of handling almost all that when our Dally M half can't?

We have a superstar, but we're not using him right, Hynes needs to be five eighth, simplify the traditional halves roles, get Trindall or another genuine 7 to game manage. Let Hynes choose his moments or get the ball when he calls it, instead of always looking to get him the ball every play, need quality over quantity with his involvements

Hynes was on a rampage last night

He was playing a lot of the game as if he didn’t have another halves partner

How they want Hynes to have the ball all the time affects the other players also, Brailey will always look to go to Hynes or the side he's on, you could see Tricky blowing up at times.
