**** Aaron Rodgers. That throw to Cobb was a slow and painful dagger to the heart.

What about the three fourth down conversions in that last scoring drive? That's gotta hurt...

On the other hand, it was great to see the Bengals win the AFC North. Lets hope they can go deep into the playoffs this year. Depends on which Andy Dalton plays; the good Andy is SuperBowl Andy, the bad Andy is one and done Andy...

Fingers crossed for Good Andy!:hoping

Such were the range of emotions Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy experienced on his team's final drive in Sunday's 33-28 victory over the Chicago Bears that sent them jubilantly into the playoffs as the NFC North winners.

Aaron Rodgers' winning drive clinched a playoff berth for the Packers. Not one for hyperbole, McCarthy did not stop himself from using his share of superlatives on Monday to describe the game-winning drive that included three fourth-down conversions, including Rodgers' 48-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-8 with 36 seconds remaining in his first game back from his Nov. 4 broken collarbone.

"Mentally, what he's been through the last three weeks, my goodness," McCarthy said of Rodgers, "I think this is probably his finest hour as a Green Bay Packer."

And don't think McCarthy has forgotten that Rodgers was the MVP of Super Bowl XLV and the MVP of the NFL in 2011.

One of Rodgers' career-defining moments would not have taken place if McCarthy didn't listen to his players, who urged him to go for it on fourth-and-1 from their own 22-yard line with 4:41 remaining. As the punt team took the field, guards T.J. Lang and Josh Sitton approached McCarthy and asked him to reconsider.

"I love the fact that they wanted to go for it," McCarthy said. "I think in my earlier days I would've said, ‘Hell yeah, let's go for it every time on 4th-and-1.' But you've got to mature through that part of it. They were right.

"I think ultimately I may have regretted that decision if I would've punted."

Instead, fullback John Kuhn plowed his way through for the requisite 1 yard, and Rodgers went on to convert another fourth-and-1 with a 6-yard pass to Jordy Nelson before the bomb to Cobb gave Rodgers a fourth-quarter comeback victory that he has often been criticized for failing to direct.

The 15-play, 87-yard drive will be one for Rodgers' career highlight reel and one for the Packers' annals.

"I don't know of one better," McCarthy said of the drive.

He recalled a time when he was an assistant coach with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1994, when Joe Montana outdueled a John Elway-led Denver Broncos' team on "Monday Night Football" and threw the game-winning touchdown pass with 8 seconds to play.

"But this was for all the marbles [in the NFC North]," McCarthy said. "Aaron hadn't played in eight weeks. They were aggressive with their game plan. This was clearly, you know it feels good today because it just happened yesterday, but it's the finest one I've ever been a part of."

Wow...0-4 for the wild card round. Pack just can't beat the 49 read option...

Really wanted the Cheifs to get up and have a soft spot for perennial underacheiving Bengals.

How did you guys fare? (Cept you Mr Wright - Da Bears are almost home from Hawaii by now...)

Once again, the Bengals crashed out in the first round of the playoffs...
Everything was looking good until the rain came in the second half and then the bad habit of cheap turnovers changed the games momentum. Dalton has to learn the importance of keeping possession before he will be a top level quarterback.
Having said that, he still threw for over three hundred yards in this game and had the best season by a Bengals quarterback ever.
The franchise has made the right decision to stick with this young squad and have re-signed the majority for longer contracts. If they had avoided some key injuries this season, especially to Pro Bowl DT Geno Atkins, things might have been different!

As we Sharks fans know only too well, there's always next year!

N.E.P baby

Pat's have done well to get where they have this year, they are in a re-building phase. Without Gronkowski and with inexperienced receivers, I can't see them making much impact in the playoffs.
Having said that, I think they are lucky (no pun intended) to face the Colts this week, who really haven't looked like a playoff team for most of the year. Pats should be able to account for them but that's as far as they go, IMO.

Green Bay made playoffs only to get thrown out in the 1st round... I'll take the higher draft position thanks.

New England will still make the SB. Even without Gronk, Wilfork, Mayo, Ninovich and Spikes. Outside of Brady, those 5 are arguably their 5 most important starters. Peyton will choke yet again in a cold weather playoff game. Tom Brady > Peyton.

And Ironshark, gotta feel for you and your Bengals. If you had Leon Hall and Geno for the entire season you definitely would of made it further. Always rated Dalton and this year was his first step towards becoming elite. Still, you guys possess a good core of young players on both sides. I'd like to see them target some secondary help in the draft though, your DB's are ageing.

Agreed that the draft gives teams a silver lining...however I'll take the NFC North title and still consider the season a success - with all GB's injuries (and lost games) the Bears or Detroit should have capitalised.

Seeing the Pack move forward at 8-8 must have driven the Cardinal fans crazy...

I hope Peyton plays to his potential...he is the best QB of all time. If he had the rings there wouldn't be any argument (IMO).

The division was Detriots to lose once both Green Bay and Chicago struggled with crippling injuries. Sure enough Detriot did what they do best and crumbled.

Chicago were without Melton, DJ Williams and Kelvin Hayden for the entire season, who were all starters. Plus had Tillman, Briggs, James Anderson, Nate Collins, Major Wright, Isaiah frey and Corey Wooton out for extended periods of time. At one stretch during the middle of the season, half our defense was made up of 3rd/4th stringers much like Green Bay. So it's not entirely fair to say we didnt have a rough trot with injuries like the Packers.

Plus not to mention Cutler missing 5 and 3/4 games.

Peyton cant be the greatest QB of all time with 1 ring on his resume. He had some pretty stacked teams with Indy and even last year they should of went all the way. He just doesnt show up when it all matters. Montana, Brady >>> Peyton for mine. Hell even Elway or Steve Young have a good argument.

How many rings has Brady got after being busted for spying on the opposition? Give me Peyton any day.

But seriously...Go the Seahawks! I'm running out of second favourite teams...

Axis of evil was defeated. All is right in the world.

Plus I don't have to see Harbaugh's face for a while. Just another bonus. Can't wait to watch the super bowl.

I like the 'Axis of Evil' call...my sentiments exactly.

Great result...If Seattle can get it done - good for them. If it's Denver, then I think Peyton cements his legacy...it will be good to watch.
