u know when the Tigers won the grand final in 05?? when was it that they started getting taken seriouslly... cause i remember that year... it was the Dragons and Eels and Cowboys getting all the splash....

i feel this year.. it's the Storm and Eagles and Roosters getting all the splash... we deserve to be in top 4.... we can win this comp this year, im not saying we will... but we can, we can! but why aren't we getting any headlines yet?? do we have to wait until the semi's to get it? we are the biggest underdogs ever i think...

they are rightfully talking up Storm and Eagles! then they start wrapping on (which is fair enough) on Roosters... then they start jumping to Broncos coming good, and Dragons/Raiders/Knights/Tigers/Panthers being able to make a stance in this finals race...

But where is the Sharks recognition... we have taken down... BRONCOS, STORM, EAGLES, DRAGONS, RAIDERS, KNIGHTS, PANTHERS, EELS, WARRIORS, COWBOYS, RABBITOHS AND TITANS...

ONLY TEAMS WE HAVE NOT BEATEN ARE BULLDOGS, TIGERS AND ROOSTERS...

WE DESERVE BETTER RECOGNITION!! BUT IF WE HAVE TO BE THE BIGGEST UNDERDOGS IN HISTORY THEN SO BE IT... BUT THE SHARKS ARE GOING TO BE THE TOUGHEST SIDE THAT ANY SIDE WILL PLAY IN THE SEMI'S... The reason for lack of recognition for the sharkies this year is simple, the little stat that says nil premierships. As painful as that is for me to say, it is true and it won't change until we win the comp. As a long term sharkies fan i have learned to be patient and i believe that my patience is soon to be rewarded !

if we had beaten manly. or at least scared them in that last game we would be up there. but because of that then everyone thinks we are ****. And it didnt help that we lost the Brisbane as well

Don't worry, it's not necessarily a bad thing that no-one is taking any notice of us. The Sharks are the dark horse this year - they have the ability to beat any team on their day and when it comes to the finals and things get ugly, well - that's exactly the way the Sharks like it.
As we were leaving the Dragons game the other day and walking back to our car, we were discussing what a great finish it had been and a great win. Some older couples walking near us commented that it was a terrible, ugly win. I replied "a win's a win!" to which they commented that you can't win a premiership on ugly play. But I think that's just the point, most Grand Finals ARE pretty ugly, grinding affairs. Last years was an exception, with the Storm running riot over the stinkin' Eagles.
I agree that the Storm are red hot favourites to win again this year but if any team has the style of play to beat them, I think the Sharks can do it but only if we accept that it won't be pretty. We will win on punishing defence and grinding, mistake free attack and a good kicking game. We have to give up on hoping the Sharks are going to start scoring heaps of points with razzle-dazzle attack. That's the Storm or Eagles game and if we go down that path we will surely not succeed.
So let's not focus on bagging the Sharks attack, we should be celebrating their defence. After all, it's the one thing that might bring us a premiership.:cheers

Im a fan of the lack of respect from the press, it works in 2 ways, it gives Ricky the power of motivation, if he can instill in the boys a sense of its 'them against us' etc, that sh** can go a long way in tough situations and secondly, you don't want any distractions, we don't need our younger less experienced blokes reading any headlines that might give them over confidence and therefore may lead to complacency.
Besides isn't it guna be good to see all those brand new crisp 08 jersys getting worn around after our grand final win, when us true supporters can still wear around torn t-shirts etc from years gone by.
Just my thoughts anyway.

Mate I wish I could be as confident as you that we are a chance at winning this year, but I firmly believe we will be a better team next year and with our finals experience this year we might give it a real shake.

Totally agree with ya 100% Shrek about next year, that we will be a better side, but lets be optimistic about this year still, as iyou know njuries or any thing like that could de-rail Melb, Manly, Chooks etc.

Actually, I think it was the "razzle-dazzle" play in the first 11 minutes which won us the game against the Storm. After that scoring frenzy we went back into our shell and MLB came back at us to within a point.

I think the Sharks are swimming along fine at this stage, Not shaking things around, grinding out wins, it seems that the amount of close games & being down at half & showing that we can get down & rough & tough with clubs, Upset their attack by bringing them into the way we play, is a bonus for the Sharks, It seems as if we are playing semi-finals footy each game. It's a good test & practice for when september comes.

Sure our attack is low, But it only can & will get better, So who cares if we can't blow teams off the park, As long as it's a win, You could easy win a Grand Final with a low scoring defensive match.

If we don't make it yet again this year, I'm pretty sure it's only a matter of Seasons before the Sharks enter the GF. But all in all i think you have to be proud to be a Sharks fan with the season they have had.

u guys seem to have already given up and are looking towards next year, ill admit we havent looked the best..but we are equal second on the ladder soon to be equal first hopefully, and we have got a reasonable run home, all we need is ONE moment in a game..one uplifting try or awesome game, and we can pick up tryscoring form and run into the finals in form. Last year, we came within a point of the storm, when we were suffereing a 7 match losing streak, and this year, we beat them. This proves that we are the team to beat the storm.

im more worried about the eagles, even though they lost last night

sharkies will go close this year, and dont be surprised if they win it

I dont think so, I've seen interviews with bird, gallen, noddy, seymour, kearney, ricky and others especially the bash brothers through out the year. I will say that ch.10 and 7 favour us more that ch.9. I think we get our share of the media maybe we expect more cause it's the sharks.
