Well that time is coming around again and origin is almost upon us. I was just checking out the threads about the halfs debate and thought that maybe we could share our thoughts on the blues team this year. I really think that If we are going to win the series that we will have to play the game in the forwards and blast queensland off the park in that area with intensidy. Lets be honerst the qld backline even minus Matt Bowen is the best in many a years and will have to be stopped. Here is the team that I think should get the nod.
1. Minichello
2. Hayne
3. King
4. Cooper
5. Grothe
6. Gidley
7. Mullen
8. Bailey
9. Beaderus
10. Ryles
11. Mason
12. Hindmarsh
13. Ryan
14. Bird
15. lafranicci
16. Anasta
17. Simpson
18th man Hoffman.
Jarrad Mullen played all over Noddy in our last encounter and NSW have to look to the Future now rather than later. Gower, Alford, Noddy injured or not in form. I know that Mullen was out last week but if he pulls through I think give the kid a shot. Gidley deserves his spot in great form and can play alot of different rolls in the backline.
Big mobile pack will have to be to shut down Locker and thurston on the edges hitting there speed men. Bird and Laffranci both deserve there spot and won't let the team down.
Well thats my thoughs but i'm not a selector but if we persist with has beens we are only going to fall behind. I think the above has youth and experience as well as good combination between the 9, 6, 7 which can dominate if the big forwards get a roll on. Backline has pace but most improtantly should be solid in defence.
