Well that time is coming around again and origin is almost upon us. I was just checking out the threads about the halfs debate and thought that maybe we could share our thoughts on the blues team this year. I really think that If we are going to win the series that we will have to play the game in the forwards and blast queensland off the park in that area with intensidy. Lets be honerst the qld backline even minus Matt Bowen is the best in many a years and will have to be stopped. Here is the team that I think should get the nod.

1. Minichello
2. Hayne
3. King
4. Cooper
5. Grothe
6. Gidley
7. Mullen
8. Bailey
9. Beaderus
10. Ryles
11. Mason
12. Hindmarsh
13. Ryan

14. Bird
15. lafranicci
16. Anasta
17. Simpson
18th man Hoffman.

Jarrad Mullen played all over Noddy in our last encounter and NSW have to look to the Future now rather than later. Gower, Alford, Noddy injured or not in form. I know that Mullen was out last week but if he pulls through I think give the kid a shot. Gidley deserves his spot in great form and can play alot of different rolls in the backline.
Big mobile pack will have to be to shut down Locker and thurston on the edges hitting there speed men. Bird and Laffranci both deserve there spot and won't let the team down.
Well thats my thoughs but i'm not a selector but if we persist with has beens we are only going to fall behind. I think the above has youth and experience as well as good combination between the 9, 6, 7 which can dominate if the big forwards get a roll on. Backline has pace but most improtantly should be solid in defence.

Minichello Does not deserve to be in the side has not played enough games and i think that there is better fullbacks at the moment i would be disappointed if he is selected.

Jarrad Mullen should not be selected..... one he is injured two he is not a true halfback

Welcome to Emu Plains, please be sure to visit our
mullen not a true halfback...then why has he been tutored by one joey johns...mullen is soon to be one of the best halfbacks in the comp...plus he has been cleared of a stress fracture in his foot, he should play this week or next

how about play that origin team against mine and mine will smash them

That bench is shit, not 1 prop?

Surely your kidding mate. Ryles and Mason are only good for 20min stints and Bailey about 30. Who are you going to replace them with, Laffranchi and Simpson, we'd get steamrolled.

havnt u guys learnt from city country??? look at kimmorley...or worse campbell and graham. rep footy is bad news for us. looking at it, we dont have the strongest team to being with, and if we want to be in good stead heading into the finals, we need our best players in our squad. and if city country is any indication, if our guys play they'll end up injured or out of form.

granted, they'll be a bit upset, but im sure that represting the sharks in the final series is of greater value than an origin jumper

Mullen and Gidley??? no way. It will probably be Kimmorley and Anasta with Farah on the bench and hopefully Bird. He deserves it.

should b selected.
i also think NSW couldn't go wrong with dykes at halfback.as much as i would love to see him there,i think kimmorley has had his day with rep footy,he should just concentrate purely on cronulla,if he does that,it could possibly bring out his best, instead of trying too hard to please others(selectors etc, etc)

hamiltonprinters , as a qlder iv got to say i hope ur side gets picked cos no offence that is the weakest nsw side iv seen...how can u justify putting ryan hoffman as an 18th man when 2 weeks ago he was australia's 18th man?

jarred mullen is too young i no u hav to look to the future but i dont think mullen is ready, for once i agree with phil goulds comments after the city-country game, i believe matt orford and michael monaghan are the front runners....

wihtout doubt greg bird, ryan hoffman and kurt gidley must be in ther somwehere.

What, Gus didn't rate Gower as the frontrunner for the NSW no.7 jersey? Well that would have to be a first! :D

covell's a kiwi.....thommo wont get selected..selectors will never choose him for some stupid reason

u r right,but.....his form at the moment demands selection,i read somewhere last year that he didnt get picked because murray had a problem with him from a few years back in city/country camp, but since murray lost the series last year i dont think he will have too much of a say at selection time this year.he can cover second row/front row (maybe silly) but possibly even lock,he got into 1st/2nd reciever against the warriors and did all right,so he's got the skills for a lock forward,to create some havoc around the edges of the ruck.correct me if im wrong.

yeh i think you have to have a work horse in there, brett kite has never failed at origin level, although i must say i think if picked luke baiely would play well cos hes out with a point to prove, that he deserves to be there again and he will bust his arse tryin to do that

I really hope none of ourplayers get picked for this first one at least, because this is a critical month for our team to do well.

To the people yho bagged the piss out of me last week for the above team i selected 13 of the 17 man squad please pay attention to the number 7 selection as Bart Simpson would say eat my shorts.
