in light of RA's rant which i quite enjoyed i am going to do my own

Captain

I believe we don't need a leadership group, but we need an insperational leader, which I believe should be Lance Thompson or Greg Bird

Noddy gives away too many penalties and cant lay on a try, as much as his defence is insperational

The 1,6,7 and 9

These positions are our key, as they are every teams key. We have many different possible combinations, I believe that our best will not include noddy, he is past it as much as most on here dont like to agree with. Our Best IMO would be:
1.Kearney
6.Green
7.Seymour
9.De Gois

it might be young but its our best attacking combination, and attack is where we lack

Backline
we have a good batch of youngsters in the backline along with the reliable Covell, over the off-season a lot can happen and im sure it will for example youngsters moving through the ranks quite quickly, Brown will continue to improve and may take over Kearneys fullback job, possible move for Kearney into the halves. Hopefully big Karl can live up to expectations next year and we will go great guns with Pom and him in centres, expecting a big season from Pom which may incur a move to the backrow for him

Forwards

We have a great pack of forwards, as we all know Bird will become a State of Origin Regular and continue to improve, what we lack at the moment is a real impact off the bench, hopefully Fred Pakutoa will be included in the top squad, he is very strong and has an awesome offload and would be great off the bench as he continues to develop

Top Squad

1.Kearney
2.Brown
3.Pomeroy
4.Goodwin/Filiga
5.Covell
6.Green
7.Seymour
8.Ross
9.De Gois
10.Douglas
11.Gallen
12.Thompson
13.Bird

14.Williams
15.Snowden
16.Perenara
17.Selmes

18.Watts
19.Filiga/Goodwin
20.Norrie
21.Kingston
22.Stephenson
23.Ciraldo
24.Anderson
25.Pakutoa
26.Su'a
27.Nielsen (if still here)
28.Roach (if stil here)
29.Talaupapa
30.B.Henry

Ricky did a good job this year.

Best defensive Cronulla side I have ever seen.

I'll leave team selection to his much more knowledgable football brain than myne.

I am just glad we have a coach we can trust. Haven't had that luxury since John Lang

A good read, and I can see good things happening next year for the sharks.

Spot on. Earlier this year some people on this forum were getting carried away and expecting instant success because we appointed Ricky. But it was always going to take two or three years to get to a position where we would be real challengers. Even if we had won a few of those tight games, we still lack the attacking flair to win the big one. Ricky will get our house in order, I have no doubt. But just remember he's doing it on a shoestring budget - not with the big $$$$ Souths and Manly are throwing around.

Interesting excerpt from a story in the Herald today sums it up nicely:
"If you're a realist, you can't expect a new coach to come in and have immediate success," Sharks chief executive Greg Pierce said. "Often when a coach comes into a club a lot of the playing roster is already there.

"No one wants to wait a year or two, but I think that it would be very hard to be critical of any of those new coaches because you've got to give them at least a couple of years to put development plans and strategies in place and try to recruit some of the players that they see as being good for the club before you can judge what they can do."

not for long..BYE BYE NODDY..ill help pack your bags to england..ta ta noddy..come call us we will call you...english clubs r cashed up and ready to pounce

finally..someone who agrees with me ...jordo..someone else who hasnt got rose coloured glasses and can see noddy for what he really is...old and past it

if we are to win any thing we need to get rid of the deadwood...ie noddy and kingston (foils our attack and loses control of the ruck, which de gois had before he gets the hook for 10) for a start

. Even if we had won a few of those tight games, we still lack the attacking flair to win the big one.

we now have that flair in seymour's unpredictability and nature talent which now means we can score tries....noddy lost that after 2002

Noddy will be our no.7, no question about it. We did'nt sign him up for two years on $250k to play park football, however I think Seymour would be good off the bench to replace De Gois rather than Perenara. Good post though Jordo.

i agree, however in saying that, hannay was on like 200 000 or something wasnt he? and look where he went. if a player isnt delivering, he should be dropped, maybe not down to park though
