Mobile Phone Flasher

this little gizmo has been in the shops for years now, but (being technologically illiterate), I have absolutely no understanding how/why it works...

The little jersey flashes blue and red when your mobile phone rings.

Can anybody pls shed some light on how this thing works? (no batteries to put in it, either)

My guess is it works off the vibrations of the phone, when the call is coming in it vibrates at a certain frequency to set off the lights

Yeah I've actually got one on my phone, it's pretty useless it just flashes whenever something near it shakes. For example if you bump the table its on it will flash. But it still flashes for calls.

Sounds like it's not a waste of money....

It picks up the signal coming in from the network and that sets it off.
