Yeah Ennis was good but the doggies ruck penalties in that game gave us a glimpse of what's to come in the finals from all the big sides IMO. Wrestling and deliberate penalties to stop momentum.

I think it's time for a 3 strikes policy. If a team gets 3 penalties in a set for slowing down the play then the 3rd should be 5 in the bin. And they should put a kind of "shot clock" on releasing the tackled player even if it means the tacklers are forced to roll away in order to clear it, forcing other defenders to go to marker. On top of this they need to discourage gang tackles and reward one on ones somehow. Crowds don't turn up to watch stacks on.

If they don't sort it soon league will eventually become a fringe sport, with afl and the A league dominating the country.

They need to work something out that will stop the refs shying away from sitting someone down. In the Dogs v Souths game lastnight in the lead up to Sam Burgess first try the ref called Ennis out and gave the "enough is enough, deal with it or I'll be forced to" - 2 tackles later another penalty and no further action. You can look at the night J Reynolds lashed out at Thaiday, tripped Barba but only got 10' for a sloppy highshot with 4' left on the clock. Professional fouls hardly ever get 10' either, apart from the Warrior on the weekend who arrived a day late for a tackle on the try line.

10 minutes is a big chunk of time to be a man down in the modern game. Maybe 5 minute bin is worth looking at.

He said to Hindmarsh "as if you'd name your kids after dogs"

He's got a fair point. haha cheers MB.

I think it's a really solid signing, it'd look even better if the rest of our forwards weren't so old.

With Ennis we'll get 40 tackles a game, solid service out of dummy half, a guy who will niggle away at the opposition and will unlikely miss a game each season despite being an 80 minute hooker. Will probably double his kicking meters as well being in our side, he tends to step up when the main Bulldogs halves are missing. ****ing value and a half signing, the opposite of a Luke Lewis.

How do you know at this stage? What if Ennis gets a few injuries over the next two years and only plays a few games a year?

He wins more penalties than he gives away with his niggle too.

Such a shame Gagan got injured, really would have loved to see him see out the rest of the season, maybe get a few games at Centre, though then Holmes probably wouldn't have gotten any game time knowing our coaching staff.

either way we were gunna get the spoon.

We know Gagan can handle the wing. We have a few good options in our 1-5 at the club, just cant get the combo on the field. Have a roving 1/2 with Holmes/Gordon, Leutele and Gagan in centres, and Feki on the other wing. Thats provided we sign noone else
