Some quotes from flanno about his plans

"We've got Nu Brown who we always thought
was going to be a hooker," Flanagan said.

"We've got last year's Australian Schoolboy Jayden Brailey, and we've got the current Australian Schoolboy in his brother Blayke Brailey coming through.

"Those two aren't ready yet, and they're not going to be ready next year. But we've got a plan in place. It might have to be moved 12 months forward, but we'll move on."

Gutted. Absolutely gutted by Mick's decision but fully understand why he has made it.
Hopefully we will retain him and he works with our next wave of 9's in a coaching capacity. I'm hoping that is Nu and the Brailey boys. If Nu can play the full 80 that would be fantastic, otherwise he shares with McIlwrick.

I'm not keen on Segeyaro unless with have a "******** get out clause" written into any contract with him where we can terminate for any Carney like indiscretions and whilst Farah was a great hooker I don't think we should chase him as he is getting old and we should look to a long term solution.

This is really ****ty.

Farah or Segeyaro. Farah if we can get him cheapish for one year. He can extend the premiership window a year. Segeyaro a better medium term option.

Can't think of any other options that don't put us straight into rebuild mode.
I was reading today that the main reason for the Farah Taylor blue is that Farah is taking up a huge amount of cap due to the Tiger's financial mismanagement of the cap. So with Farah earning a small fortune this year it is an opportunity for the club to pick him up cheap.

It would restore next year as a premiership window as you say.

Haven't read any the posts on here since the announcement but Wow, did not see this coming, thought Ennis was keen to go round another year or 2 but hey respect to his decision and giving us some notice.
Hopefully gives him even more determination and drive to get that Sharks premiership this year, bloke deserves it and really hope he stays on with the club in coaching/media roles.

Farah for 1 year deal wouldn't be a terrible thing as we bide our time and introduce the future replacement in Nu/Brailey. Farah will have something to prove as well, as long as Flanno keeps him in-line on the field
If we don't take out the comp this year we will probably be rebuilding a bit from next year anyway for another push

So yea I wouldn't be against it provided it's handled appropriately from a club and players perspective

Heard today that the club that gets Farah will only have to pay 350K for next year.

Tigers willing to tip in 600K to get him off their books.

That gives them 350K to spend next year.

I still don't want him, can't stand the prick.

One of the things he sais after being dropped last week was "I've given my whole playing career ti this club". Poor baby, don't worry about the fact they pay you ****loads of money to do so.

If he swapped the word 'given' to 'sold' it would kind of work

Keep your comments towards me nice... But I sort of think Farah has been treated ordinary, they were the dicks that paid him huge back ended coin, serves them right.

I don't. If he's not playing to the game plan Taylor wants and refuses to change then good on Taylor for having the balls to demote him to reserve grade.

Gee thanks Wayne...

Advice from Wayne Bennett helped Michael Ennis decide to retire

ADVICE from Wayne Bennett helped Cronulla veteran Michael Ennis make the shock decision to retire at the end of the NRL season.

Now the Brisbane master coach has another tip — a loss might be good for Ennis’ all conquering Cronulla before the NRL finals. Sharks hooker Ennis on Tuesday made the surprise call that he would knock back a one-year extension and his 14th NRL season would be his last.

But Bennett confirmed on Wednesday that former Bronco Ennis rang him to bounce around the idea of hanging up the boots.

“I spoke to Michael. I remained friends with him — he was one of the best players I ever coached,” he said of Ennis, who played at the Broncos from 2006-08.

Asked if he had helped Ennis make up his mind to retire, Bennett said: “They (veteran players) know what they are feeling in their body and what is going on in their head.

“Sometimes they just need another opinion (to make a final decision).” Bennett also had some free advice for Cronulla who are on a 15-game winning run.

The seven-time premiership winner knows a thing or two about what it takes to claim a trophy.

And he subscribed to the theory that a loss before the finals may not hurt the Sharks.

Cronulla hope to extend their club record streak at the Gold Coast on Monday night.

“You never need a loss, but sometimes a loss doesn’t hurt you,” Bennett said.

“It’s a remarkable effort to win 15 in a row.

“To win two or three in a row you are doing all right — it’s a credit to them.

“You would rather keep going but a loss shouldn’t damage them.” Bennett said Cronulla would remain a title threat with Ennis in their side.

“He always had a great love of the game and gives his best every week,” he said.

“He’s a great lesson for those guys in the NRL who don’t give their best every week.

“Sometimes he is too paranoid about winning, he puts too much pressure on himself.

“But he has been a wonderful player and outstanding person.”
