Did anyone know about the member day and BBQ?

Gallen on Triple M admitted there wasn't a big turn out today.

I have 3 memberships linked to my email address, yet I didn't receive any notification. Such a shame as the club is trying.

I didn't hear about it, not that I was a chance of attending! I'm not on Twitter and I don't think the club should rely solely on social media to get their message across.

I did see a photo of about twenty fans with the caption 'sharks members who attended BBQ' or something like that. The way it was worded suggested the photo included everyone who attended! Probably not the case.

Email was sent on the 25th of July. Our new filter system puts all my sharks emails into junk. Along with nearly every email I get.

Your new filter system is a reflection of how we've been travelling this season and has acted accordingly!

There was an email during the week, but you had to RSVP within 3 days. I know it's difficult to get the players available but they really need to give people more notice.

Last year they put a lot of effort into the Members Day, with on-field activities etc, and by all reports from people who went, it was great (even if not massively attended). It just seems like the club never ever builds on any of these ideas from year to year. What are the odds of #sharkday being around next August 1. Still, losing doesn't help...

Agreed.

From what I understand, there was about a hundred people who were there. Mainly the usual crew that are at everything and well done to them for their ongoing commitment.

I suspect these sorts of events should happen on a bye weekend or the Saturday afternoon before a Monday night game if you're going to capitalise on getting a positive vibe. Maybe even have it on a Saturday afternoon before a Sunday arvo game and include a members-only open "Captain's Run" training session.

Alternatively, get in touch with the Council and have it at Dunningham Park or South and try to go to where the people are rather than expecting them to come to you. Obviously that means you couldn't make it Members-only but getting out into the community is more important I suspect.

Have two days a Members only day at the start of the season the day after the home trial and then a fan day at the end or on a bye week
