Matthew Wright should remain fullback for the rest of the season...

I have been really impressed with the move of Wright from wing to fullback. He has been so reliable and safe under the high ball. His positional play is excellent with the long ball as well and was ready for Wallace when he did that banana kick to the centre of the field when everyone else thought he was kicking towards the corner.

Wright may not be breaking tackles using explosive speed like Slater but he carries the ball like a forward doing hit ups and has been absolutely rock solid and dependable.

I find I don't stress as much when the opposition put a kick up as Wright consistently fields the kick and his mistakes are few and far between.:good::good::good:

He's chiming in here and there in attack as well. I'm on the Wright Sand Wagon

Very happy for him to stay there. I like the "safe" aspect of his game as well, good to have a strong, reliable fullback.

Matty looks very fit, strong, like a prototype back, he may have more slow twitch muscle fibres than fast, but he has yet to do anything to suggest he shouldn't be the guy being our fullback.

Ditto. When he got fullback I thought he'd grab it with both hands and he has. We're only scratching the surface with this guy. I think he's going to develop into a very smart footballer.

I prefer Wright over Gardner.

I think he has been a fantastic fullback. His lack of errors or as overs have said how 'safe' he is, works perfectly for our team. It's one of the big reasons Melbourne have been so successful and why we are having a great season. Completion rates. Any player that helps take the errors out of our game is good in my eyes.

Wright is solid ... great kick returns hard defence despite the odd poor read...he is generally a smart and skillfull footballer! but he doestn yet have that x factor which all top NRL fullbacks have..and lacks the turn of pace..Gordon will be no 1 next year and a good one.. Wright is a keeper no doubt and is one of my favourite sharks players.. i wonder though which position he will end up playing full time long term.

Is playing well. And he is enjoying being back there. Hard to even think about changing the side. But I reckon we are going ok on the ladder with what people on here say is the worst 1-5 in the comp huh.

But to say you wouldn't throw Gordon in if we were to grab him this year is a bit silly. I'd put him straight onto ikes wing.

Of course
Ike is the weakest link
Has done nothing since his return and at the moment stapo deserved his spot
Gordon on one wing
Ike, stapo, mills and hotdogs to fight over the other wing spot

I'm wondering whether Wright will end up becoming a great mobile second rower. He's 190cm (6ft 4) and currently weighs 95kg according to the Sharks site

Personally I hope Best retires (I'd rather him go out this year in fine form then stick around to long) and Wright to take his center position.

Something about his build and playing style tells me he'd be a terrific center.

One thing I haven't totally grasped is the switching of wright to wing an Gordon to fullback during parts of the game.. Not sure of the rhyme or reason for it ... I'm not sure how many other teams switch 1 an 2 around mid game on a regular basis????

Anyone got any thoughts on this ... Why it's being done an when they are choosing to do it ??
