If Idris gets the arse I'd take a punt on the big fella.

Mason can go f-ck himself.

Myles has been playing awesome but forwards are really taking a back seat in the 2009 comp with it being so damn fast. Although if we're gonna buy a forward, I'd take him over a lot of others.

I am very pleased that we missed out on signing Mason. Hopefully he gets boned and never plays first grade again.

The Roosters deserve this.

the 2 young fellas haha
youd take a stab for either of them if they got let go, whic they wont. even then theyd wouldnt come too cheaply. wouldnt worry about mason or myles but. mason had his shot to come here and has only gotten worse since and never really thought to highly of myles, rather we promoted mannah or afamasaga than pick him up.
lucky my club doesnt have a drinking code of conduct, wed be down half a squad haha

Apparently Myles and Mason were just having drinks at home while watching the football.... I can’t wait to see how the Roosters will punish Todd Carney when he starts taking ****s on Campbell parade and jumping on cars on Oxford Street!!!

I find it a bit strange that the Roosters of all clubs would drop players for simply having a drink at home. It seems a bit hypocritical after letting the drink driver play.

There is no way in the world the bulldogs will let those players go.

Mason and Myles broke the clubs inhouse alcohol policy being you can only drink a day after the game provided you have been cleared by the doctor to do so. The story is that Mason and Myles had a night on the drink, the two admitted to only having a couple but they were both at their own homes drinking seperately and watching the sunday arvo footy, they have been dropped for 1 week to newtown jets

They arn't facing the sack now.. only if they were found to be out and about at clubs or pubs.. Freddys a little bitch

Roosters stars Willie Mason and Nate Myles break alcohol policy, stood down

Sydney Roosters coach Brad Fittler was adamant axed duo Willie Mason and Nate Myles let down their teammates by deliberately flouting the club's alcohol policy.

The representative pair owned up to drinking in their homes on Sunday against the club alcohol policy that limits players to drinking only the day after matches.

Both players were immediately stood down for Friday night's clash against Parramatta, but Fittler would not elaborate just how the club found out that the pair had indulged.

They were not breath tested and only owned up after being question by Fittler.

"The question was asked, it's irrelevant why the question was asked, two blokes put their hand up," Fittler said.

Mason and Myles will turn out for the Roosters NSW Cup feeder side Newtown this weekend with their teammates appearing to be the biggest losers, given the pair knew exactly what the punishment would be for having, apparently, just a few drinks.

"They let down the coach, they've let down their mates," Fittler said.

"Alcohol is a big issue in rugby league and society, we try to put these rules in order to give players less grey areas, more black and white, and we're disappointed with the two players.

"I'm disappointed because lately the Roosters have been in the headlines whether fairly or unfairly, I think pretty unfairly with all the scrutiny they've been under, but this is why we make these rules."

Chief executive Steve Noyce doubted the pair had deliberately flouted the club's strict alcohol stance, despite the knowledge former teammate David Shillington had received the same punishment for a similar transgression last year.

"I don't know that you sit down and go into that in depth," Noyce said of Mason and Myles contemplating the punishment before drinking.

"At the end of the day they were in the wrong, they understand that, they've put their hands up and we've put our hands up.

"They've made a bad choice.

"Both players only had minimum amounts of alcohol, both consumed within their own homes, but our rules are black and white.

"The guys appreciate and understand that they have broken the rules and have to pay the consequences.

"They're disappointed, we're disappointed, Brad is disappointed, but we can't change that.

"What we've got to do is regroup and stay focused on the Parramatta game this week."

Fittler said both would come under consideration for selection for the club's Good Friday match against Brisbane.

"I don't hold grudges - the players will come back, they'll bounce back if they want to be here which I know they both want to, and we'll get on with it."

Meanwhile the Bulldogs will investigate an altercation between young players Jamal Idris and Ben Barba at Wentworthville League Club on Saturday night.

Sydney's The Daily Telegraph website has reported the pair came to blows inside Wentworthville Leagues Club during a night out with team-mates.

A witness said the tiny Barba who stands at 175cm and weights only 83kg shoved second rower Lee Te Maari up against a wall before Idris intervened.

Unperturbed by Idriss 188cm, 106kg frame, Barba lashed out at the giant centre. A shocked Idris then retaliated, leaving Barba with a bloodied nose.

The witness said the two players were asked to leave the premises immediately.

You have to remember how much of a skirt mason is, so him having one beer is like buster having 20. I bet he was rolling around his lounge room floor throwing up, no wonder hes been stood down.

Anyone see Danny "The Detective" Weidler's news report on this tonight? Said he was at Willie's place yesterday before he went to training and there was no evidence of empty beer cans or bottles lying around, and that Willie seemed perfectly sober! Exactly what Weidler was doing at Mason's place before training was left unexplained...too funny! :lmao

Haha! Yeah I know Weidler wants the viewing audience to think he is close to the players, but surely that is going beyond the call of duty! :D

Bluebag … demoted Roosters forward Willie Mason playing for Newtown yesterday against the Central Coast Storm.

WILLIE MASON said before playing for the Newtown Jets that in retirement he'd treasure the jumper alongside his Australian and NSW strips.

The rampaging forward made it clear he wanted to put in for the Jets, taking on the Central Coast Storm at Morrie Breen Oval at Gorokan yesterday.

Mason and his Roosters teammate Nate Myles were dropped to the second tier competition after admitting to having a few drinks on a designated alcohol-free day. While it was a quiet drink at home, the pair accepted their punishment.

Despite being bolstered by two Origin stars, the Jets lost 28-12.
