I agree it should be first try not first points, and no extra interchange, that way there is tired defense, making it easier to score.

We should of got the ball back anyway after the panthers first Field goal attempt. there is no way they deserved 6 more. it was bull****.

i like this idea. i think with the way golden point is nowteams only have to kick off, man up in defense for a set then if they dont go too bad, they should be in firld goal range if they complete their set. make it first try, and if no one scores a try, have a draw.

I was waiting for the replay on that one but didn't see it. The commentator called it off Bird's back!

yeah i saw the footy show this morning, it showed it missed by a few inches. great kick though, he has definitely been working on his drop kicks.

yea exactly even if that kick did miss it was great strike and i look forward to him kicking more fg's in close games

yes but if it was first try, im sure we'll get a scenario where theres 5 seconds to go on the clock, kearney makes a HUGE line break, had only the fullback to beat, and in all desperateness, the opposing fullback would chuck a high arm across the face to take him down. there the only would be to try and run it again as a penalty goal will be useless, but the clock would dry up we tried to run it, and it would give the defence time to get back in line. yes, this is a professional foul, and will have the fullback sent off, but he saved his team a loss

I disagree, I think he did run up and intentionally put his body in the way of the ball, just because it wasn't a hand or leg.

In that scenario, if the opposition fullback could get close enough to high arm across the face then surely his instinct would be to either tackle him then lie in the tackle waiting for troops to arrive, or strip the ball.

In a circumstance where the attacker was definately gonna score and the defender walloped him (ala Ainscough '99 Grand Final) then a penalty try should be awarded.

There's a thread somewhere where we discussed golden point scenarios and suggestions in greater detail.

I'm not a fan of golden point in competition matches........A draw is a fair result in my books........semis........10 mins each way then golden point if scores still level...........Grand Final............Extra time then replay if scores still level.........SOO............draws are fair...........but I would like to see extra time in series decider matches.

QUESTION FOR THOSE WHO LIKE TO HAVE A PUNT ON NRL

Do betting agencies clean-up (more than they should) when games go into golden point?

I don't have a flutter that much these days, but I know that there are a few options that pay only on the full-time result (margins?).

You would think they would, I am not a better either, and if I do, it is only on a first try scorer.
