Whilst working away the other day I had a bit of an idea. Now I know some you will probably laugh this off, but I'm open to debate.

Question 1 - In the last 20 years what was our best period?

The Johnny Lang Era(94-01)

Question 2 - Which current NRL coach will be unemployed after this year?

Johnny Lang

Now I'm not saying we should sack Flanagan (I think hes's doing the best he can with limited resourses). What I am saying is we should get Johnny Lang back to help out in any way he can. Sort of like our own Gus Gould. General Manager of Rugby League. Whatever you wanna call it.

We have no CEO, no recruitment manager. Get Lang in there to help out with those things. We all know he has soft spot for the sharks and knows best how to make us great again. You gotta remember when he came in 94 we had worse playing roster then what we have now.

Well what do you think?

Certainly not the worst idea I've ever heard. Could work possibly, but would Flanno really want that big brother as such?

I like the sentimentality of it mate, but what are you going to pay him with?

Bottom line is, if we had the coin we'd have a good CEO already.

I would love for John Lang to come back and help out where he can, assuming this wouldn't cause an issue for Flanagan.
I love John Lang and even when he is venting til he is red in the face on the camera because of how Souths have been going, I still have a very big soft spot for him.

I don't know if I really like or really hate the idea.

He's sort of well past it and I'm not sure he's respected enough now for it to work.

Could he really attract a player? Young or old? I dunno.

I really think this is a good idea. p.s....prepare for people to be flamed as anyone that comments at all on coaching always gets flamed.

Anyway, I think its a good idea, and in regards to how do we pay for him, for mine having additional coaching would be much more influential than a average player. If we were to pay like 200K, instead of re-signing a player like Poms (hence if worse comes to worse take it out of our cap), than we would have an additional coach which could spend the time to bring through the juniors.

Not to mention he would add credibility to our coaching instead of purely having a rookie coach.

Excellent idea I reckon.

I still think he is a coach not a general manager. Unfortunaly I think he is past it as a coach. I really like Lang and what he did for the Sharks but think time to keep looking forward.

Souths are a rabble on the field, I am not sure what he would bring to another struggling club like us unless he has some administrive insights?

I doubt he would come back here anyway soft spot or not.

If we could find someone more suitable and had the coin then yes I like the idea.

No thanks, 94 was along time ago the game has changed to much.

Have you seen him on the side lines
For the rabbitohs games the way he goes red

I think the sharks would finally send him off the edge?

What has Lang achieved besides winning the panfers the comp
With half sharks players?
