I watched two things today on IQ that reminded me John Lang is the best coach we ever had and a coach we should never have pushed out the door.

1. Foxsports Classic match from 1995. Sharks v Manly at Brookvale. A cracker sharks side and we win 17-10. But it's the nature of the way we play that was so impressive. It was just all out attack from anywhere on the field, Paul Green and Mitch Healy dominating in the halves, Adam Ritson showing why we could've been anything in the game. The match was so damn entertaining because of the attacking nature. The game has changed so much in 19 years, it's far too structured now, players are now robots beyond a few freak talents, 1995 showed how much more entertaining the game can be. For me it was just another reminder that the Sharks have not played attacking football since John Lang left. The likes of Chris Anderson and Ricky Stuart were meant to bring a tough winning culture, but all they did was kill off our attacking culture and Flanno is the last man who can change that.

2. SBS Insight on male suicide. Was from a few weeks ago but I only watched today. Preston Campbell revealed how he tried to kill himself. Depression and mental illness is a complicated thing that I certainly don't understand, so the last thing I'd do is blame Chris Anderson's decision to move Preston to hooker. However Preston credits one man for saving his life, John Lang.

Given I think the Sharks only missed the finals perhaps twice in Langs 9 years or so as coach, getting rid of him may go down as one of the worst decisions ever made by our club, a decision we are still to get over.

Lang had us playing exciting, creative football a joy to watch
He didn't have us winning premierships despite our excellent top of the table form

They brought in Ando to deliver us this as fans got more and more impatient, using a system and playmaker that worked for him at melbourne. he didn't deliver, hindsight is a bitch, move on mate

No guarantee Lang would have got us the trophy if he stuck around

I don't agree it was a certainty that Ando wouldn't, at least not in mine and many other Sharks fans eyes

If you called it then props to you

Make not mistake Ando very quickly ripped my heart out

I remember fuming when the Anderson kimmorley double act came to the sharks, pushing presto out of position and out of the club, never took to kimmorley whilst he was playing here purely for that reason. These days though I like kimmorley and would welcome him here onto the coaching staff.

Don't have any blame for BK for it, but Anderson was a useless fwit of a coach

Nah wasn't noddys fault but since he was the one that took the spot of my favourite player (equal fav with peach) I just didn't like him then.

Chris Anderson showed how bad he was at the Roosters when he tried to have his defence line set with only one marker. Most of the team thought he was joking but he was deadset serious. It was at that stage that everyone knew he was crazy.

He also had the technique one season with the dogs (where they would just keep holding the opposition down, stay offside etc) of "let the refs keep penalising us - we'll keep doing it...'

he failed badly...

not long after we hired this retard

And screwed us over and started our downward spiral which has been a struggle to be out of since. I realise it's a different world we live in now but we were playing an exciting brand of Footy in the 70s and 80s also. The Sharks were an awesome team to watch we hadn't won anything and you say that people were getting impatient, that is true I believe though that we were closer to it under Lang than we have ever been since despite near success with Anderson, Stuart and Flanagan. They have tried to impose a culture that hasn't worked at all. At least Lang and those before Lang nurtured our junior talent.Lang was an awesome coach.

Flanno could be too if he just smiled a bit more...
