Happened to watch both games the eels played in the last two weeks. They lost both by less than a try. I have to say that I thought both would have been won had Robson made better decisions, especially in his kicking game.
No doubt we need some experience in the halves but given our current young guys, AK, CT and WG, not sure what the strategy is with Robson. I dont really rate his talent more than our current stock. He does have some experience but this is not really being displayed on the field. If his experience does not carry him, not sure what he will offer us next year.
A bit worried about this recruit?!?!? thoughts?

Whatever his negatives and whatever amount of first grade he plays, he is far better than smith and Porter so we are stronger in the halves next year. Thats enough for me.

I am happy about this signing, one good way to look at it is the movement in our squad.

The following leave our squad:
Tim Smith, Scott Porter and Paul Aiton

and the following take their place:
Jeff Robson, Chad Townsend and Isaac Degois

All three of these are upgrades on what we had.

Another good thing about his signing is the fact that Robson covers both the halves and hooker so it adds more flexibility to the squad. Apparently we picked him up for peanuts too.

Gee this sounds familiar. Can you source me next time please.

I could have said the same thing about you when you posted it first time. :p

But I did steal the layout my original was put as halves and hookers in different sections. :cheers

The Robson signing remember was done at the time when Townsend hadnt played, Kelly was injured and we we're struggling with the Porter/Smith options. Robson isnt at all bad, no Thurston or Joey, but he's light years ahead of Porter. Number 1 back up for Townsend IMO.

It will be interesting how the halves and back row line up next year tho. If Gallen does move to the forwards, If Kelly moves to lock or wat. having kelly, townsend and graham on the field for 80 minutes could be good, but i guess an offseason and training will help.

However going by current success, Robson wont be playing as a first string player

If rumours are true... Robson to Sharks...Smith to Parra. We win that swap hands down

Do you watch Sharks?

Gallen already plays in the forwards so I would assume you are talking about Graham. Kelly will not be moving to lock!!!! Graham would be the one moving to lock out of our halves.

South Sydney should have a crack at Smith. He's had some woeful games, but at least he doesn't tackle his own players in to touch. Yep, he's a definite upgrade on Sutton.:ridiculed

Last weeks Rugby League week Flano stated that he might play both Robson and Townsend with Graham almost certain to go to lock. This worries me a bit. If Townsend, Kelly and Graham are healthy Robson doesn't go anywhere near playing in our top 17. Robson may be an upgrade over Smith and Porter but he is still an average first grader.

Well we may have over recruited. He should not get a start before any of those players I mentioned. Just hope we don't just play him for the sake of playing him.
