IS THIS the scariest-looking bloke in rugby league? Well regardless, you would not want to meet former Raiders bad boy Jason Williams in a dark alley - but what about a boxing ring?
The 120kg enforcer, who spent five months in jail for assaulting former teammate Jeremy Smith, has quit rugby league to take up a boxing career and he has set his sights on some rugby league heavyweights.
"Yeah I want to take on some of the NRL boys first," said Williams, who is being trained by Losh Matthews out of the Strong Arm Boxing Academy at Sutherland.
"I'd like to fight Carl Webb or maybe Willie Mason. Those blokes will have a go so they would be good to fight.
"I don't think Willie can say no to anything so I might as well ask him."
With three from three in the amateur ranks, Williams has already scared off Sonny Bill Williams and we are tipping Webb and Mason will run in the same direction.
"Yeah he wouldn't fight me," Williams said.
"But I don't want to say anything bad about him. He is a good bloke and had to do his own thing."
Williams is highly regarded as a boxer and has the support of former NRL player Solomon Haumono and Aussie heavyweight icon Bob Mirovic.
"Sol offered to do some training with me but I haven't been over to see him yet," Williams said.
"And my trainer Losh is going to get me to do some sparring with Bob."
Now training Williams full-time after the Kiwi giant quit the Queensland Cup, Matthews reckons this behemoth can go all the way in the ring.
"He could be the Aussie heavyweight champion for sure," Matthews said.
"He fights a bit like Mike Tyson but also has a light touch. He has done a lot of sparring with girls for his technique."
