Maloney has every right to earn more than chad. But that erase the fact that he chose our 3 year deal due to the security in length, knowing that thr cap was up for review after a year or so. Imo it was his managers balls up that he didnt get the bickies. Had he come off contract last year, he gets Ben Hunt money

I think the club would be fairly reasonable with these things, the bloke just helped us to a premiership and prob wouldn't be against rewarding and keeping a key player like him happy if it meant re-securing his services as well in future years - so yea prob wasn't about the money, club wanted him out for whatever reason and Maloney gave an impression of someone apparently not in the loop

Exactly. If Maloney was on the ‘open market’ last year he takes $1.1M a year for 3 years easy. I use the term open market loosley thiugh because it seems no matter who the player is and how long a contract they have, they are always on the open market

Look, I can understand him being annoyed about people being paid more than him, and whatever other beef he may have had, but to completely sook, bludge, tank and not fulfil even basic obligations is indefensible.

If he bothered to play with even a minimum of effort last year, I'd have some respect. He didn't, I don't, he deserves nothing.

I haven't read or heard anything to change that opinion.

What were the obligations he didn’t fulfil?

he wasn't great last season but he had a tonne of mates with him in that regard, the Aussie selectors must have been half ok with his form cause he got picked in the squad when there was a tonne of good halves running around, most being younger.

His mates weren't spitting the dummy because Mummy wouldn't give them what they wanted.
