in the daily telgraph today there is a small article, the article relates to the june 30 anti tampering deadline. Cronulla sharks officials believe that the deadline has triggered a drop in intensity from players leaving the club in 2006also raper is talking about "major changes to this weeks lineup including nigel vagana and darren albert.

will be interesting to see what raper does in regard to this weeks line up, but from wat ive seen recently he hasnt got much to work with and is copping the full blunt critisism from supporters.

i dont like raper but i dont hate him and think he is a much better coach than chris anderson that bloke was destroying our club. Also all of those calling for the axe to fall on raper think about our options. johnny lang is the only one that comes to mind but i cant see the sharks dropping raper as they are trying so hard to build some stability back at the club.

also just thinking of the good old days with a potent sharkies backline.. rogers, et and peach they were our glory days. still couldnt win a premiership though.

i say get lang back, better coach and preston campbell should have been brought back.......he was great at cronulla...was my fav player back in the day

vags and albert wont cope anything...there not bad its just they dnt try that much...if they get the ball a lil more and with some better game plans they will be on fire....on the other hand, PL is ****, no1 will b promoted

get dykes to 7 kearny to 6
kimmorley out of there
dykes is better more comfortable in the 7, cheaper for the club, better and the team seems more relaxed and play better with him there

dykes is a joy to watch....without noddy

i wonder what the team will b this week????

have to wait and see........

it's not june 30, it's the players. I didn't see this weeks game so i can't really comment on that (nearly went to flegg and pl games, thank christ i didn't). however, i think vag and albert should be dropped for an ongoing lack of interest in attack. when i watch the melbournes and canterburys of this comp i see support players hitting holes at speed looking for offloads, and it is usually speed merchants ie. the 3/4s. there has been little of this from the sharks recently - we wait for an offload and go from there. the team and staff have been boasting of the side's fitness levels but that counts for little unless it is backed up by entusiasm and commitment across the park.

raper can coach, players just need to play.

Kimmorley vs Dykes

I've been a silent participant on this forum and I thaught it was time that I became vocal.

The team is in strife and the family is fighting. Do we tear each other apart and merely look for a scapegoat? Raper, Dykes or Kimmorley? Why does one have to go?

After a winning streak surely other clubs would have studied the Sharks to foil their successes!! It's now time for the Sharkies to change their comfort zone and challenge themselves a little more.

Why not Kimmorley at Hooker? The Sharks have been the leading exponents when it comes to finding the playmaker dummy half role. First Sullo and then Latu. Only Craig Wing has held a light to this "type" of role.

Kimmorley does tackle more ferociously than Dykes, is sturdier built and has a motivational mouth that our forwards can use from time to time. Kimmorley reads play well and still has zip and can be a real pain to the opposition as he would not have the same focus on him as if he were at half back. With a kicking game out of dummy half like Cameron Smith, Kimmorley can provide a broader option to the Sharkies. Kingston can come off the bench and also play as a utility forward if need be. Why not try this before cutting people? We don't have the depth for such a luxury of cutting players.

It will take a gutsy decision no matter what as a change to the existing role of Dykes and Kimmorley could trigger a request for a release by either player from the club. Raper really does have heat on him but frankly if he is to be a top line coach he does need to handle these issues with resolve and with results otherwise he will be deemed a pretender and not the saviour we hoped he was.

capmar, i applaud you. that is perhaps the most intelligent thing i've seen written here for a while. i couldn't agree with you more.

why's everyone looking for a scapegoat? with some decisions, we'd have won at least 3 or 4 of these games. does the ball hitting the ref in the knights game come to mind? we've played great, the only difference between now and early in the year is that we're not getting the tries. I'm not a tactical expert, but maybe simmo's the answer. while kearney's played great at fullback, it's taken away his opportunity to milk penalties and get quick runs from dummy half.

let's see what happens against the eels. i really suspect the team might suprise a few

I give us a big chance against he eels. I have good mail that Albert is being dropped to p/l. Vagana to the bench, Bailey to the centre's with Pomms and of course Simmons to fullback. Not sure who will be replacing Albert on the wing, but I think it will be Bott.

i heard that bott cant play first grade again for the incident against the broncos..no registrating bullshit

anywayz the info come from a dragons supporter im mates with....theres every chance hes bullshitting, so dnt take this quote to seriously

laiseni will prob be promoted??

i hope we start winning again...noddy should prob go to hooker, mite work out good, dykes to 7 and kearney to 6

noddy could always drop into the playmaking role??!!

anywayz, lets hope raper makes a good call

I cant believe it has taken so long to promote Pomeroy to the top grade... THis guys can play and will only get better with the experience. I think Kerney is just too small for this game. Albert has pace to burn and like Vagana needs the ball more. I am worried about the number of tries we have conceded from kicks the last 6 weeks.....how do we stop the eels who kick for every try?

I dont think they will get rid of vagana he is a international centre, and albert is one of the quickest players in the game! This is what raper will do (not what i think), he will put kearney on the bench, simmons to full back and bailey to replace bird. But i say he has to somehow put dykes or kimmorley somewhere else away from each other.

Anyway it is going to be interesting to see what he does to the team.

When you look at the results from the lower grades last weekend - premier league (78-6) and Jersey Flegg (44-10) against Canberra - it's clear that players have clocked off since June 30. Not so sure that's entirely the case with first grade, except for maybe Vagana and Scott.
As Greg Pierce said in today's Tele: "Thankfully, most of the players involved in the premier league game will not be here next season.
"If they haven't got pride in the team they're playing for, they shouldn't be playing for the club.
"We've got supporters and sponsors and season ticket-holders who expect better than that."

Great reason to keep them in first grade.

Sharkie_Freak.

I can tell you now Albert has been dropped and Vagana to the bench for the moment and possibly even dropped as well.

CAPMAR AND JONAHSHARK & HAMMERHEAD.

I see all your points and agree with some to a degree, but there has to be a certain level of professionalism and expectation from professional sportsman.

Yes maybe Raper could do some positional changes Capmar and they may or may not work. But have you thought of this, Melb storm are probably one the most well techinically coached and clinical side of late, this comes down to coaching and coaching intelligence and strategical decisions both on form of players and reading games and players. Is it possible for Albert to admit to himself that he just hasn't had a go all year? Yes possible but likely, maybe, maybe not, either way has he improved? NO he hasn't, in steps Raper says "Darren your not doing this and this and need to do this etc". If after this convo Albert still does not perform, then piss him off.

A coach is not only supposed to make decisions on strategies but also coach the finer points in the game on an individual level, but also motivate players. Something Raper is not doing at the moment.

I dont profess to know how Raper interacts with players, perhaps that is his big failing. i do agree with great white that perhaps he does not coach players individually like he should. maybe that's a result of taking over from Ando like he did because he never quite won the total respect of Ando's crew: Kimmorley, Nutley, Bailey and the likes. to be a good coach you also need to do things your way and be outspoken, which Raper is still trying to perfect.
