It's funny that Matt Johns told Irvine that he was crazy for taking the job in '09, considering that Johns caused a great deal of our problems himself...

yeah I agree 100%.

I always liked Matty Johns, but I'll never forgive the **** for making jokes about us on his lame show, when as you say Slide Rule, he contributed big time.

I thought what happened to Johns was harsh. He paid for it when it happened, his marriage was on shaky ground. For it to be dug up again, played out in public & he take all the blame was unfair.

You may not like that show but they are 3 pro-rugby league people & the game (& Sharks) need as much positive exposure as possible.

Irvine- born politician which isn't a bad thing. Dodged the difficult questions easily, didn't say too much. Promoted when the opportunity came up.

I went and watched the Grill Team do a show towards the end of last year, and afterwards they came out and had lunch with us. They were all really cool blokes and when I asked them about Cronulla they all seemed really genuine in hoping that we'd come good this year. They seemed to pick on Gus a bit too which was pretty funny, Matty just kept talking about all the dirty stuff he does to Gus's Mum & Geyer also dacked him on air.

Did anyone else think he was talking about Baz when he said our problems were solved after we stopped signing washed up 5/8s from England. I did and thought it was bit rough... then I realised he was giving stick to Matty.

Good interview. Real happy to have him lead our club.

Yeah I thought the same. I knew immediately who he meant, but also thought Barrett could still take it a bit personally.
