As you probably know voting for the Indigenious Team opens tommorow through NRL.com.

What you may not know is that three Sharkies players are eligible to be voted for:

Ben Orcher
Blake Ferguson
Albert Kelly

This game would be such great experience for any of these guys, and would obviously benefit their game and our team as a result so I would suggest everyone votes and you get as many of your friends and family to do the same. I am not sure how voting works but know it is at nrl.com

It is a bit of a long shot considering big players like Inglis and Thurston are there but here's hoping we can get at least one of these guys some big game experience.

I am going to vote for Fergo as he is the most well known so will get votes and could use the experience as well, and I recommend you all do the same.

Then I guess later on the All Stars will take in 1 Shark player. It will prob be Gallen but lets hope we can get someone like Dougie or Snowden a rep game under their belt!

:fergo: So come on lets vote in numbers and help our team! :fergo:

From what I understand the all stars team must have a player from each team.

Is the Indigenous one the same?

Either way Fergo is the obvious choice. Though that said I'd probably rather Albert Kelly so I can see him in person and if he gets injured it won't be as big a deal as if Fergo gets injured.

I've actually just been on there and voting has actually opened today. It lets you vote for anybody and put it together like a fantasy team. I voted for the 3 Sharkies and then just put in who I thought was best and avoided any wingers or people I thought would takes votes from our guys.

I hope we can get as many people from this board signed up from the nrl website and then hopefully more will come. I am not kidding myself tho, it is an obvious long shot with some of the talent they have.

Sharks players nominated for Indigenous All Stars
24 October 2009

Voting for Indigenous All Stars will officially open today and the selectors of the team – the fans, will have the opportunity to choose the side they want to take the field against an opposing NRL All Stars side.

The Indigenous All Stars v NRL All Stars match, to be played on February 13 at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast, will be a historic first on many fronts but none more exciting than the fans taking the selectors chair to choose the players they want to see in the inaugural match.

The public have until November 15, 2009 to cast their vote for 16 players, to represent the Indigenous side through www.nrl.com/allstars

Ken Stephen Award winner, Preston Campbell, has been named as an automatic inclusion and Captain of the side, with an additional three players to be chosen by Indigenous All Stars coach Neil Henry and ARL Indigenous Council selectors, following the finalisation of the public vote.

''The game is certainly a unique concept and a wonderful opportunity for the NRL to showcase not only its Indigenous stars but the best non-Indigenous players too,'' Indigenous All Stars coach Neil Henry says.

''Having experienced the passion of the players in the Dreamtime team last year I know they will approach this match with State of Origin intensity.

“The fact that the fans will have voted for them will only add to their sense of honour on the night.

“I look forward to the fans sharing in this passion by helping to select the Inaugural NRL Indigenous All Stars.”

The ARL Indigenous Council together with the 16 NRL Clubs have announced a list of 60 players who are eligible for consideration in the team.

Nominated players eligible for the Indigenous All Stars include Sharks players Albert Kelly, Blake Ferguson and Ben Orcher.

Members of the public can purchase tickets for the All Stars from 9am, this Monday, 26 October, 2010, through Ticketek on 132 849, at Ticketek outlets or online at www.ticketek.com.au New Zealand customers can call 0800 842 538 or +61 132 849.

Voting for the NRL All Stars team will take place throughout January 2010 and there will be total of 16 places on the side determined by public vote. There is a prerequisite that each of the 16 NRL Clubs are represented in the players voted by the fans. The NRL All Stars team will also include VB Kangaroos’ Darren Lockyer and Cameron Smith and the New Zealand Captain Benji Marshall and Vice-Captain Adam Blair.

Agreed but we can still vote for them and hope they made the 20 man train on squad and can get experience. But admittedly I share your scepticism. Hopefully not many ppl vote!

I hope none of our players make it.

I dont want to see anyone injured in a pointless game.

I dont even want a player in the allstars.

and yes, I am also a total Killjoy.

Well there has to be at least one player in the allstars 20, right? So therefore its possible for our player to just be 18th man. Unless they intend to have a 7 person bench.

IMO it's almost inevitable that Gallen will be in for the Sharks in the All stars game.

That's unless it's also a public vote in which case who knows? Maybe Dougie?

It is a public vote that commences in January but will still then likely be Gallen.

These games will be good for any of our players in terms of experience. Except Gallen who has been there and done that and will just be risking injury as was pointed out. So it sucks that the one guy we don't want in there will likely be the only one!! I hope our players can get in there and get some experience with the best players in the nrl as well as just some fresh coaching from a new face as that can help their game immensely.

I think what they are gonna do is give you X-amount of options to choose from. So instead of picking who you want from the Shark's top 25 it'll be like Barrett, Covell, Dougy or Gallen as the choices.

As for the Indigenous one, well Fergy is the only one whose played first grade so is the obvious choice. Its gonna be an awesome game, great work again from the GC CEO.

I think big Luke Douglas will get enough votes to get him over the line for the all stars. Over the past year I think he has finally started to earn some respect in the NRL. I dont think Gallen will make it because he is not liked throughout most NRL fans.

Indigenous v All Stars - The Sharks boys

Just wondered what everyone all thought of Blake Ferguson and Anthony Tupou in last night's game.

Ferguson really impressed I thought with his involvement and his willingness to try things even if they didn't come off. Sure he missed the tackle on Folau but certainly made up for that in mowing him down after giving him 10-15 metres start.

:fergo: Go Boy!

Toops really stood out in attack, he always got the ball away, broke tackles and looked dangerous. A good hit out for the Shark boys.
