No way in hell. We just need more cameras for the in goal area.

Oh and that camera they use in Cricket and tennis would help as well, instead of the crappy 1 frame per second camera we currently use.

Video Ref gets bagged out alot, But it needs to be there. The game is too fast for the naked eye & refs cant keep up with the freakish nature of some players ability to pull off tries.

Maybe a suggestion to cut down the long delays or the frequent abuse from the Video Ref is have the same system as the NFL & maybe let the coaches have 3 Challenges. That means once a try has been scored and looks a little suss, the coach or captain can ask for a challenge & send it to the video ref.

But on the in-goal touch judges, No to them being there instead of the Vid Ref, but we need 2 referees or something, game is too quick.

the expensive option is to put sensors in-goal and make the ball out of something special, or sensors/some kind of signal in it
that way the sensors would detect when the ball contacts the ingoal area
pretty sure this would be possible, but expensive
this way you could also have a lot of automated cameras which follow the ball
the ref would then just need to rule on double movements and anything in the leadup to the try

the problem is consistancy. a try awarded in one game that is similar to a try that is disallowed in another game is confusing the fuk out of a lot of the watches and supporters of the game. you're watching the game where the try is awarded and you say, "oh i get that rule now". and then the game where the try isnt given and you're saying "the same thing was given in another game wasnt it?" needs to be fixed up and all refs should be going by the same rules they are taught and not on their personal opinions.

anyway, thats how i see it and i hope it makes sense:p

sorry, no way, i dont think this would work! we are talking about (and i quote what they always say ) the ball making contact with a blade of grass! there would be to many times where the instruments say one thing and the vision shows another. Not to mention the fact that they kick the crap out of the delicate instrument that is now the ball.

It would maybe have a hope if we played the game on astro turf or rubber with the whole of the ingoal a pressure sensitive pad.

I'm all fine for the video ref but I don't think the replays should be shown to the crowd. For example the ref goes upstairs and then the video referee looks at the footage by himself, makes a decision and a try is awarded or disallowed. I think this will stop the crowd booing or getting upset at decisions. The video ref shouldn't be unaccountable though, he should still cop a blast from the referees boss or the NRL if he gets something seriously wrong.

The same thing happened in the past before we had video refs, the ref would make his decision and disallow or allow a try and we had to look at the replay after the game to see if he was right.

I still think they get more right than wrong.

video ref is sh!t, get rid of it. or atleast just set up a challenge system where the video ref is only used when a coach calls for it, the catch is each coach only gets two opportunities to use it per game
