The person who Ricky Stuart is bringing will be getting the job, that is part of Ricky's terms.

well great white, that has now convinced me that, stuart is the man for the job, im not a ricky fan as a coach, that premiership he won was graeme murrys. but wot ricky can bring to the place is wot we need.

i don't think you can completely overlook ricky stuart's contribution to that premiership in 2002. he was still the coach of the roosters and no matter what happened in previous years, he was the one who had to keep them focussed during the year and keep them on top of their game. obviously murray's input certainly helped and for that reason i do not expect us to win a premiership in 2007, but look to a long term plan that can hopefully bring success.

What about ET I think he should have a heavy involvement in the club, maybe a board member or something. What u think?

I mean the appearance money. I know he's a media celebrity and all but he's a bona fide Sharks legend. We named a stand after the bloke for Christ's sake!

I hope Pierce doesn't go. I feel that he has done a very competent job under the greatest of adversity this year. He deserves the opportunity to see the fruits of his labour in 2007 and 2008. From what I know of him, he is a well-rounded bloke, and the sort of leader that Cronulla need to win a premiership.

Remember Tevita Latu? What other CEO would have had the ethical and moral courage to dispense with his services quicker than what Pierce did? Nobody, is my answer. Pierce handled the incident absolutely perfectly, and has matured into one of the best CEO's in the game. People need to understand that the problems at Cronulla are not of Greg Pierce's making, and if given the opportunity, Greg Pierce will become the greatest CEO, Cronulla have ever seen.

not in the shire anymore :(
Yeah, I was pretty impressed with how he handled Latu-gate ... he made an initial press statement, did the research, sacked Latu, then announced it quietly before it turned into a media frenzy.

It only really got a lot of press when Latu was confirmed as sacked and the girl went on 60 minutes (or was it Today Tonight) asking for an apology from him.

Far better for our club (and for league in general) than the whole Bulldogs gang-rape allegations a few years back.

I agree he's taken on the job in difficult circumstances, but in my opinion the club has been sinking while Greg Pierce learns the ropes. He has really shown how green he is this year and it's clear he hasn't handled the pressure. He has been reactionary rather than proactive a lot of the time.

Just look at these two quotes from him - not a glowing endorsement of an NRL CEO. These sort of comments should never have left his lips.

Re Gallen wanting a release: "It's a load of s**t," he said.

Re the flogging the premier league team copped against Canberra: "Thankfully, most of the players involved in the Premier League game will not be here next season. If they haven't got pride in the team they're playing for, they shouldn't be playing for the club."

Thank god Ricky will lift the professionalism of the place, and maybe get some media training for various execs and players.

i'd rather see barry and the other board jokers go and keep greg pierce.
yes he's green but he's a straight shooter and seems to have his head screwed on.
thats more than i can say of the board.

i don't think that they will sack greg because he is in the top spot so it would need to have everyone else's opinions voiced first

The club should be aiming big. It is not enough to be nice bloke. If someone like David Waite is on the market to overseethe three grades, juniors and player recruitment I think we should sign him. Of course he won't be cheap but he would be worth it - if the improvement of Rugby League in Britain is an indication.

I am really pleased to see Jim Dymock at Shark Park. He was a great and clever player. I remember him single handedly hammering the Rosters when he was at Parramatta. Who could forget him in the 1995 final.

Another good thing to come of all this. The broadsides from Gus Gould should settle down. He has long hated the club and taken every opportunity to bag us. I remember on one occasion when we were playing Melbourne in 2000 he said that "the sharks just played the worst set of six I have ever seen". Every year like clockwork he heaps it on the club and reliably the players listen and fall into the heap he has just described. His relationship with Ricky is shaky but reasonably respectful and should stem the tide of his criticism. Ricky has also mastered the habit of ignoring him so will insist the players follow his lead.

Whilst we have been on the canvas of late I reckon it will not be long before the Dragons start eating their own - starting with their coach. The most impressive playing list in the competition and no grand final appearance. As the Wok said on saturday a more experienced coach would probably have got them there. I reckon the Dragons will be on the market for someone new fairly shortly- Gould or Bellamy could be in the frame.
