the goons crowd tonight is 13 000+ but we only managed 9 000+ the other night. why is it that not many people get to the games these days? im pretty sure that our crowd average is the worst in the nrl and below 10 000.

Simple answer:
We have too many night games on a Saturday night.
This year was FREEZING and with the vast majority of mgames on a Sat night when people would rather go out to a bar the obvious toll on crowds has hit.
We need a greater variety of games across the weekend not just Sat night

tell that to foxsports and ch 9...fox have an obession with us playing on saturday night

its not just fox sports.
each club get to give the nrl their preferences for when they would like to play their home games for the year and the sharks always choose saturday night.
mainly because they used to be our biggest crowds, before everyone headed out, but this winter has been one of the coldest for years and has definitely taken its toll on the numbers.
i also think we seem to end up getting alot of saturday night games because channel 9 don't rate us as a true finals contender and therefore don't want us on free-to-air.
i want the good old sunday arvo games back!
once we start winning we will see the crowds come flooding back, and in reality it is quite a miracle that a club with an empty trophy cabinet has as many fans as we do.

one factor for this years bad crowds besides the poor performances by the team...the wild weather we have had..and lack of under cover seating when it rains turns some fans off...but come next year hopefully there will be more and we should hopefully have great crowds next year..cause the team will go great..

Marketing/Promotional Problems
i was in the shire today visiting my cousins and i was driving with my parents along the princess highway, going back to my cousins place and drove past gymea tech, school or tafe what ever it is, with the bridge that goes across the highway and on that was a sign and in big letters were "SOUTHS 2008 MEMBERSHIP PACKAGES OUT NOW" and that was next to a picture of the souths team..
now WTF is going on there..souths signs in the shire
has our marketing/promotions lost the plot and let another team into the shire

I think the point Peachey is trying to make Brently is what are WE doing to combat member recruitment.
I live in Bunnies territory and there's a lot of hype around at the moment BUT that will be over next year. This year was their fairytale run and next year they are just another team
As for combating the Bunnies recruitment all we need to do is put up a billboard with the MERMAIDS on it. Would you join a club with DRUMMER BOYS over our Mermaids. I think NOT!!

the marketing department have no idea at all, they tret the minor sponsors like **** and look down on them their only interested in major sponsors,our the years they have lost thousands of dollars in minor sponsors. the head of marketing thing he is really great and is doing a wonderful job,
lets hope the new ceo cleans out that department, and starts again.
