So with the 2011 draw recently being announced and it seems like a few clubs gave hooley jana's to the nrl to get the draw they did...

Why doesn't the nrl make an event of out of the season draw?

What I mean is to have a tv broadcast of the matches being pooled out using a similar lottery system like the soccer world cup does. Of course there has to be rules in place but you'd have every diehard fan in front of the tv watching it and you'd then know that no hooley jana's were given and no media companies were looked after even though one of their teams ****ted all over the nrl.

Thoughts...?

Although I'm not a great fan of your turn of phrase (Re: HJs) , I'll say that this is a great idea and one that I think has a lot of legs. A lot of other major competitions hold a similar sort of ceremony.

However, I do recognise there is going to be the situation where a Club might need to spend the first or second half of their season on the road due to upgrades or changes to their home ground.

A system that can somehow encompass that would be great

I like it's sentiment too ;), and there would be at least one thing to consider:

I'm sure I've read somewhere credible that the CEO's of each Club put in applications to the NRL as to which teams they would like to play twice, and the NRL then weigh up those applications.

If that is indeed the case, then what you are proposing, murph, would only work for fifteen of the rounds, whilst the other nine would still be susceptible to gratuitous 'hooley jana's'.

I don't think that would be too hard to accommodate... Just draw the teams from the hat and don't mention the home and away status at the ceremony.

because its a good idea that will draw interest but the nrl and news limited want to play their own agendas so it wont happen till the commission takes charge, but lets see how independent it is first
