Well I'm ready to give up on Detroit. So give me a team and some reasons why, and I'll pick the best based on that. I'll also rate the responses out of 10. I will support this team for the remainder of the season and till they play as badly as Detroit. :p (jokes, but I'll seriously be a fan of the new team). The winning entry will be the one with the most convincing argument for joining that team's fan base and the entrant will receive $500vcash. Get in quickly, you have 1 week starting today. Post all your entries in this thread.
So far the only entry is Dier69:
I was a Fan of the NFL before i Picked the giants
They used to be on the TV a fair bit and just grow to loving them.

I hate the Cowboys and Pats...Cause they are media ridden teams. Always talked up.

Teams I dont mind and enjoy watching are the likes of:

Carolina Panthers: Got a good QB, Two solid Rbs and a great WR in steve smith.

Arizona Cardinals: High Flyin Offense always great to watch, the greatest crop of Wr's in the NFL Larry Fitzgerald ( this guy is a freak), Boldin and Breatson..Qb Kurt Warner is a Ex giant so i got a soft spot for him. Their Defence has picked up over this season (been shaky the last 2 weeks)

New Orleans: Brees is their QB and his stats are always huge there coach Sean Payton is an offensive GENIUS, they do heaps of trick plays always good for entertainment values...but there defence lets them down alot. So there objective is to pretty much out score the team always high scoring games.

I also hate all other teams from the NFC east Washington and Philly (who giants have tomorrow) and really hate Steelers with a passion cause of hines ward basically and most the people on their defence.

Thats all i can be bothered typing for now. pretty lazy, yer.
Fair effort, taking into account that you couldn't be bothered to write heaps (and I agree with you on that) a fair 7/10.

Well 195, seeing as you are a fellow Sharks fan, I reckon you must be up for a challenge. Why not do what I do and support the Cincinnati Bengals!? They are even worse than Detroit, so it will make you feel better about supporting them in the first place! Eg; "Why the hell did I stop supporting Detroit? The Bengals are MUCH worse! - I remember the good old days when I went for the Detroit; they weren't great but these guys are just terrible!"

Another good reason is that, just like the Sharks, they haven't won anything in living memory-that's always fun! Another team to get your hopes up year after year and then bring them crashing back down, it really builds character! Also, they have a really cool jersey which is black with tiger stripes so that even if people laugh at you for supporting the Bengals, they will at least have to concede that you look super wicked in your jersey!

Another excellent reason is that they used to have a great quarterback named Boomer Esiason. He got them to the Superbowl once, a long time ago (I'm old and can't remember when) but just like the Sharks do, they choked and lost after leading for most of the game! That sort of stuff is always entertaining and hilarious. But who cares if they lost, I mean the guys name is "Boomer" - how freakin' cool is that!!?? No one else in the history or future of the NFL will ever have a name that cool. Unless they happen to be called Boomer but that would just be a flagrant rip-off and therefore, no longer cool.

Another good thing I just remembered is that they used to have a "no huddle offence." I really don't know what that means or how it works but I figure that a distinct lack of huddling has got to be a good thing in any professional sport - unless you are a professional huddler, then it's probably unavoidable. But apart from that, I mean really, when was the last time you felt like having a good huddle would be fun, or even necessary? I have made a point of having a "no-huddle breakfast" every day. It's not that hard actually, you just eat breakfast! The main thing is, it sounds impressive. Did I mention that I don't think they still have the "no huddle offence", 'cos I'm not sure if they do. But even if they don't, it doesn't matter. They used to have it, that what's important.

Finally, they come from "Cincinnati". I mean, it just sounds really cool! Try it yourself, tell someone you are going on a trip to Cincinnati, there is no way they will not be impressed. It just sounds so much more exciting than, "I am going on a trip to Dapto"

So there you have it, the Cincinnati Bengals. Heartbreakingly bad team, apparently always have been - but with a cool jersey. Had a quarterback called "Boomer" (but don't anymore) and are apparently opposed to the notion of huddling (maybe).

What more could you want in a Grid Iron team?

Im pretty sure Willie Colon of the Steelers has better name than Boomer.

His parents must have hated him.

Sure, his names Willie Colon but the guy is 6'3" and weighs 315 lbs (like, 140kgs) The mans name could be "Nob Gobbler" for all intents and purposes - are you going to make fun of him?

That's just insane, everyone wants to be called Boomer, I want to be called Boomer! No-one in their right mind wants to be called "Willie Colon". Unless maybe, you were a gay porn star. You're not a gay porn star are you?

What is it with you guys, are you masochists or something??!!

Sure Boomer is a cool name dont get me wrong I'd change my name to Boomer in a second...But when you say Boomer Esiason it doesn't create another word or meaning...its just a guys name...But with Wayne Kerr there is a hole other effect to the name.

Very short and succinct, but I need a little bit of reasoning why you go for them, nonetheless a 5/10 for your convincing effort.

I don't know if I can survive another team that hasn't won anything, but you raise some good points, I also like their playing strips, but the colours annoy me personally. I give this a 7/10. Reasonable effort and very persuasive account and I agree that there is too much huddling in NFL.

Easy, you gotta come on the vikes bandwagon. Adrian Peterson is already hall of fame bound and we got one of the best o-lines in the nfl led by steve Huchinson, matt birk and bryant mckinnie who other teams would kill for. Quaterback situation will be sorted out in the offseason with either mcnabb or cassel coming to minny. Got one of the best deep threats in football in bernard berrian along with a solid receiving core and a good tight end. We got 3 pro-bowlers on defence, kevin and pat williams and "the sack king" jared Allen. The best part is that both kevin and allen are still young (28 and 26) so will be around for a while. One of the most under rated lb cores in the league with the superstar e.j henderson (currently injured), chad greenway (in the same draft class as a.j hawk, proving hawks a bust) and ben leber. The secondary is average but will improve. Antoine winfield, darren sharper and madieu williams are all top players and lead an improving secondary. Plus Vikings got an owner who doesnt mind to shell out millions in an effort to get a championship.

p.s- vikes are gaurenteed to win 2 games a year cause they play the lions!

I like this, very convincing and "the sack king" sounds a little gay, but I'm sure he's effective. Minus a point for the last comment (don't dis the team I currently barrack for, unless there is a reason apart from the losses of 08-09), so it was an 8/10, but now you get 7/10.
