How well are we really doing?

Just some stats that i found that show the truth of how well we are actually going:

Ladder position 9th
Points for 15th
Points against 14th
Hit-ups 13th
All run metres 12th
Tackles 3rd
Completions 12th
Errors 2nd

We have such poor handling that we are having to do so much work in defence. We arn't going to win that many games without possession.

thanks for those stats mate. They tell me that we need to look after the ball and promote go forward and completions rather than impossible offloads and cutout balls in our own half which have resulted in us being in the bottom half in completions, metres gained, errors

Its round 3 FFS. Hardly time to question the legitimacy of our season and pull out the stats. We're doing a lot better than some teams expected to be mile ahead of the pack i.e. Cowboys.

We've had what I believe are the 3 hardest road trips in the comp in back to back weeks. We snagged 2 of 'em. Fair effort I reckon.

Truth is last year we were the third best defensive team, one of the top go forward stats (I think Gallen was close to leading the stats) and we never made the 8 (I wonder if that has ever happened?!?).....sometimes stats don't tell the truth.
What we can be sure of is that we need to improve some of those. But it is only the third round and after a game where we held 40% of the ball, made 50 more tackles and 100 less metres and only lost by 14, we are doing ok. Allbeit it slants these types of statistics.
The Warriors had as much ball as us last night and lost by 50....Gold Coast may not be Manly, but hey we beat Manly at Brooky!

Add to that the third placed Cowboys had the largest against margin.

I'm not much for stats, myself. Some can be handy little tid bits, but other than that I'm confident I can watch a game and know where it was won and lost without getting all Dave Middleton on yo' ass.

Yeah fair point (it is only rd 3), taken on board guys, but just thought they were interesting and it shows we have a real problem with ball control - this is the reason we let the storm back into the match and the reason we had our arse handed to us on the weekend. This is one of the only parts of the game within our control and it is crucial we control it with key personel sitting on the sidelines.

hold the ball, score more points, dont get suspended. probably 3 areas we might focus on. otherwise good. we've had some decent efforts, at the moment the ladder says were 9th but it means nothing. look at the teams we have played so far. the ladder will start to skew towards the better teams by round 10

It would be nice if we can snag one more win on our five game road trip and then follow it up with a smashing of the panthers at home. Shame that Ross and Gallen (the club captain) wont be there due to the ridiculous judiciary system.
