Yep.

Yeah I know they've got the cattle to do it but have a look at how Melbourne draw and pass and we hit and spin every time and try to wrestle to get an arm free. Anyone notice a play that Melbourne put on last night where a set play was used where they draw a defender, pass right draw two defenders and then an inside ball to Slater running through the centre at pace? Pretty to watch - coached to entertain.

Us.... 5 hit-ups without support play followed by a dud kick. Yawn.

It really is a tried and proven winning tactic flanno had now perfected and turned it into a Cronulla cultural thing, we have been doing it for years now. Sometimes Cuture and tradition can be good....... Like winning.

I know it doesn't look good dropping your senior players or new recruits so early in the season but maybe its time Flanno gives Holmes a go at fullback, brings Gagan on the wing and Bird to replace Beale. Hopefully Bird can help Barba out more in defence and lot leave him stranded.

I have been a fan of Gordan but now we have some viable options its time we exploit them. We need more than just a strong inside runner.

Not sure how we fix our kicking game though...real problem.

Mind you losing 3 games on the trot with a full strength side and two home games doesn't look good either.

Gagan to replace Holmes, as he is not a winger and wont be fullback until Gordon is gone, no use wasting him on the wing if supercoach isnt going to use him to switch with Gordon. Bukuya for me isn't really cutting it for me, that's just me I rather have Prior and Fifita for the prop rotation with Tupou for lock and either Bird or Bukuya used in the second row.

I think we need to sort out the right side priority number 1. Change halfback number 2. Drop Gordon for Holmes number 3.
Call me crazy but we have to change our shape a bit and mix things up, so I'm starting with switching Graham to the right, and giving Lewis his role on the left. Graham can bakup Barba in defence and also add a bit more skill to that side. Halves and 2nd rowers often work well in pairs and I think we should foster this one a bit. Gal can keep hunting down the left as he loves to.

Drop Gordon because he just isn't quite good enough anymore and get Holmes doing what he does best. Drop Robbo and bring in Murphy's speed and kicking game.

Always start the Fifita boys up front and see if we can exploit the brotherly bond. Always use Heino and Toupu off the bench. They are great at lifting the tempo and adding energy when we're flat. Lets give the huge new signing a crack with limited minutes. Use his 122kegs as a wrecking ball 25min in.

D.Fifita has earnt his fg spot on his own merits, not that of his brothers

Could be argued he deserves a spot more than Andrew right now

i agree,
however someone pointed out that gordon is routinely running through holes and he never gets the ball. so there is support play there that isnt utilised. and its the way wed hit the line, spin, struggle etc.

went back and watched the game. and yeah, our guys crash into the line, try and get an arm free and alot of the time we cant and there goes flash through the line without the ball.

think someone mentioned, move UP in defence! we stand & wait & the attackers have time to think about their best option. so frustrating to watch, you look at nearly every other game/team & they move up, put pressure on.

This is my long winded slightly over complicated suggestion .
Surely some of it could be worthwhile .

Our first grade side first of all requires depth in attack. After the first 2 hit ups stand deeper to give our talented 2nd rowers and backs an opportunity to break down other teams defenses Decoys Required (Gal etc)
Gagan a MUST on the wing for his defense , attack , skill , size , speed and height advantage. (someone to bomb to )
Murphy to halfback for his kicking game and potential . With possibly Robbo on the bench to cover if Murphy tires or is struggling and might provide options for Barba to be a 2nd fullback .
Bird or Feki to take Leutes centre spot . (perhaps Bird )
David Fifita AND/OR Houma to START . Andrew Fifita to be an impact bench player , like when he started Sharks Career . He then stays on the paddock for as long as he looks damaging and not making silly mistakes ( 2 costly silly mistakes and your hooked ).
Gardner to halves in NSW Cup .
Stick with Ben Barba at 5/8 with a new deep attack and see how he thrives . Let him and Bird interchange positions to play whats in front of them in Attack . Meaning Barba to roam a bit slightly behind the attacking vee with Gordon running decoy or possible ball receiver . Barba ONLY requires a little space to accelerate thru if it's created .Bird might help this .

FIRE AWAY !

Luetele and feki have been very safe in defence and look about our only chance at scoring points. I wouldn't seperate them at this point, they are not a problem.

Reading the above it actually makes one thing very clear.
We need a new coach.

Fair call , I just feel bird might offer more to our backline (if not at 5/8 ) and they won't drop Beale so to me it might have to be Lutes . .

The OTHER forum does agree with you , sorta (see next line) gotta laugh .

That right side isn't firing at all
At least between Feki Loots and Graham there's the THREAT of a threat... (But barely an actual threat...)

considering they never get good early ball I would argue that they aren't the problem it is the half and man one in from them who is.
