I've always considered myself an ardent supporter of the sharks but have had to reassess my commitment recently. I'm not losing faith, I've merely realised that my efforts pale in comparison to some. Last Saturday I was doing some grocery shopping and was approached by a fellow sharkies supporter (he didn't know me, we were both wearing the jersey). We had a bit of a chat and in less than five minutes he had: told me he has a jersey signed by both sludge and matty, shown me a pic of his kombi painted in sharks colours with shark emblem spare wheel cover, told me his house is also painted in the appropriate colours and complained that his wife wont let him give the xr6 the same treatment! What a legend :cheers

Can anyone better this? I know there used to be a camira shark car at home games but I am struggling to recall anything else of a similar ilk.

btw my wife now considers herself very fortunate indeed :lmao

My dad has my avatar tattooed pretty big on his arm.
Pretty much everything he owns is of a sharks nature.
He even designed his buiness cards and assessories to incorparate sharks colours.

No matter whether we are losing or winning he parades his tattoo around with pride.

I have never met a person who can feel such highs and lows after a football game.

In a city full of broncos supporters who all think the sun shines out off darren lockyers arse, its not easy following a sydney team, specially sharks but in 40 years my dad has never been deterred or even come close to losing faith.

He is the biggest supporter of an nrl team i have ever met by a long way.

As hardcore as I can be is........

When I was talking to a bunch of so called league fanatics here in victoria saying how much they love following thier teams which were mainly storm and parra...

When I said, I go for sharkies!

There was a moment of dead silence, and they screwed thier faces up in disbelief, and said "oh my god, the cronulla sharks?" looking down on me like i was a worthless second class citizen, like the sharks are just not a club you support!

Then I looked at them, and said, well you can all go and get f*cked! C*NTS!

mind you this was at 4 in the morning, there was 8 of them, and if they had of wanted to take me on for abusing them I would have gladly took them on and taken an arsewooping for the name my club.

I'm just lame... I just go on the Sharks Forever forum and tell them how hardcore I am... I can feel how scared you are feeling now. Feel my menace... grrrrrrr.

Oh, and yeah... I've got a mole on the inside of my right thigh which looks like Gavin Miller's nose. Cool huh?

Having moved to the Gold Coast from the Shire in 1998 i don't get to see as many Sharkies games as i would like to but i go to all the QLD matches religiously, i had the 1997 emblem scribed into my flesh at the time hence the name "Sharkarm" there was also an ex boxer who was murdered in the 60's and his body dumped into Botany Bay, one of his arms was later found in the gut of a tiger shark caught off Coogee beach, his murder was later called the Sharkarm murder Lol :lma

You know, until you said that I'd never even thought about how some of you back home might be getting stick for keeping the faith during theses troubled times. Now that you have mentioned it, I can hardly fail to see how self-righteous twats would have no hesitation in ripping the piss out of anyone in sharks colours seeing as we must all, by definition, be women hating, drug taking, gang raping sex fiends.
In Northampton, no one bats an eyelid when I wear my jersey (or scarf during winter) unless it's to enquire curiously what team it is.
Mind you, the lads at my cricket club have taken great delight in ripping the piss out of me over the T20 cricket. We better bloody keep hold of the Ashes, that's all I can say.

Listen guys, I am old bastard who has held the faith from the start. My son is 29 and we both reside on or near the Gold Coast. Last weekend we went deeper into enemy territory, infact to the very heart and sole of queensland, a place known as Joh Bjelke-Petersen Dam. You don't get anymore hardcore Qld then that part of the **** state.

Now this place has cabins, but the campers were typical Qlders, I lost cound how many maroon commodores we saw, maroon tents and every second camper seemed to be wearing Qld jersey's (spew material).

So we proudly upset the apple cart in Joh's backyard, parading our NSW jerseys though the camp and on Sunday afternoon turned the radio up as loud as we could, put on our sharks jersey's, sunk a ****load of grog and cheered on the sharkies.

Yes were were looked at like scum and it was obvious they wanted to say plenty, but did we care? Not on your life, the party went on.......WE WON!!

We managed to escape on Monday with our lives and most importantly, our sharks jerseys!

Sharks ‘dying donor’ arrested over fraud
16 June 2009 7:35 PM

Former Cronulla league boss Tony Zappia, who was accused by an NRL fan of hiding his donations to the club, has emerged from a Sharks board meeting saying he used the money properly.

Zappia has fronted the Sharks board, which is angry that it wasn’t told by the former CEO that he had accepted donations fromClint Elford, a Cronulla fan who claims to be terminally ill.

The story goes that Zappia received $30,000 from 27-year-old Elford, to start up the Beyond Sharks foundation, to help the cash-strapped club.

Elford claimed Zappia has since hidden the donation.

Today Elford was arrested over an alleged life insurance scam, involving more than $500,000 – he’s now being questioned at Miranda police station.

Eight police raided Elford’s Goulbourn home – they were seen removing Sharks memorabilia from the premises.

Zappia tonight has been locked in talks with Sharks board members, who say knew nothing about the fund at all.

Zappia says he has provided documents to the board which show he used the funds for the right reasons, but hadn’t told anyone about the money.

“I did not inform the board about the foundation or the source of the donations to it,” Zappia said.

Sharks Deputy President Damien Irvine says the clubs own investigations have to be done.

“If there’s anything that comes to light from our point of view that we feel that the NRL or any other authority need to know about, we’ll certainly pass that on.”

Elford allegedly told Zappia he would eventually become the executer of his will, which would be worth $13.8 million.

Elford claims to be suffering from Shy Drager's Syndrome - a neurological disease, but suspicions are growing that he is not terminally ill after all.

Man arrested over alleged $500,000 fraud
21:25 AEST Jun 16 2009

Police have raided the home of a Sharks fan who allegedly donated large sums of money to the club.

A man has been arrested over an alleged $500,000 life insurance fraud, believed to be linked to a donation made to the Cronulla Sharks rugby league club.

The 27-year-old Goulburn man was arrested at a Cronulla hotel, in southern Sydney, at about 3.30pm (AEST) on Tuesday, police said.

Detectives began investigating the matter after a major insurance firm reported that doctors nominated by the man had "denied treating him or any knowledge of his reported illness".

The man had allegedly claimed to be suffering from a terminal illness.

"Detectives were also made aware of the man's disguised appearance on a television news program at the weekend in which he claimed he donated $30,000 from a life insurance payout to an NRL football club," police said in a statement.

Media reports named the man as Clint Elford, who had claimed to be suffering from the neurological condition Shy-Drager Syndrome.

He may have used money from the allegedly false insurance claim to pay the Cronulla Sharks, News Ltd reported.

When asked why he was arrested, the man told the Seven Network: "Because they've said I frauded (sic) Allianz insurance". He denied the allegation.

Media reports over the past week have said a 27-year-old Sharks fan contacted the club, offering to donate money from an insurance payout.

Former Cronulla chief executive Tony Zappia is alleged to have had contact with the man, who wanted to set up a foundation to assist the cash-strapped club.

Zappia met with the Sharks board at Cronulla on Tuesday afternoon.

After the meeting he told reporters he had always acted in the interest of the club and used the funds for its benefit.

"I acknowledge that I did not inform the board about the foundation or the source of donations to it," he said, reading from a statement.

"The board is disappointed about this and in hindsight I regret not informing them."

In a statement, the Sharks board said it was angry they were only informed about the money and the existence of the foundation through media reports.

"Mr Zappia produced records pertaining to the donations and the foundation that he received and set up," the statement said.

The board's legal team will examine all the information and write a report, which will be handed on to the NRL and any relevant authorities.

The Seven Network also reported the man had spent all of his payout on donations to organisations including Oxfam, the Royal Children's Hospital, and $50,000 to the Waverley lifeguards.

Financial documents, framed football jerseys and Sharks team photos were among items seized in a raid on the man's Goulburn home on Tuesday afternoon.

"Police are continuing to make inquiries with a number of other major insurance companies and investigations are ongoing," police said.

The man is being questioned at Miranda station.
