:confused:I'm with you Coolum, I don't even know where to start with my frustrations. Is it the 2 major injuries from the first game of the season? is it the fact that our halfback has been stood down for bad conduct (again), lets not even go into the Bird and Andersen issue, or is it because I feel that we have the wost attacking and slowest backline in the competition. Why is It that other club seem to have these young players just bursting to get into 1st grade to have a shot like Carney from Canberra, jamal and barber from the bulldogs, the 2 wingers from the broncos. We loose our fullback in the first week and the best replacement we can come up with is a centre/winger who has bad knees (simmo). Something has to be wrong there guys, is our talent depth that shallow? We have a great pack and with Barrett to led them around but I really think it is time to try to give these young guys a shot. Flinga, he is not going to turn into the next sonny bill playing lower grades. I was really happy to see Ferguson get a run, more young guys that want to make there mark please.

As for another Hobbie coolum the cricket starts tonight........I feel you brother

This is my second yr watching rugby league and supporting the sharks, and for some reason, the passion I had last yr just isnt there right now, because Im so damn frustrated at our club. I mean, we wont have about 5 players that I loved watching last yr, thats nearly half a side, its just not the same.

Mate If you are feeling pain after one season try feeling it for 32, it does not get any better. I'm usually the most positive at the start of a season but I just have a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that our backline will not have the goods this year. Long term sharks fans im sure are aware of these gut type feelings. I just hope that I an drastically wrong.

Wow you guys are so negative. Show a little faith for god's sake! You are all buying into the crap that is spouted from nerds like Andrew Voss and Russell Barwick that were not good enough and we cant score. No one gave us a shot last year, I dont think many predicted us to make the top 8. We finished equal first and one game shy of the grand final. Now with added talent like Tupou, Maitua and Barrett, the skys the limit. Look at our backs. Kearney when he is fit, is a spark that can score from nothing. Pomeroy is emerging as an elite centre. Covell is the best in the business at positioning himself and under the high ball, not to mention he is one of the best goalkicker in the league. Blake Feruson will be a superstar mark my words. trent barrett is one of the best five eights in the nrl and brett seymour is starting to show his great potential. Add to that the youngsters at the club like Matt Wright, Nathan Stapleton, Karlos Filiga (hopefully) and ben Orcher and our backs are certainly good enough to win us a premiership. Dont forget that we do have the best forwed pack in the NRL, so our backs dont have to be as good as other clubs.

Id give anything to have Bird, De gois, Noddy and Ross back on the park for us this season. Its only hit me recently just how bloody different our team is.

Bird-Maitua, Degois-Hughes, Kimmorley-Barrett. Snowden has developed into a much better player than Ross, and we always knew Dougie was better than Ross, so we lost a bench player. Barrett brings more than Kimmorley ever did. You all bashed Noddy when he was here, now you want him back, your vey hard to please! Hughes might not be as good as De-gois but there aint much in it with hughes defensive capabilities. Birds form had dropped by the time he was sacked. He has lost his line breaking capabilities and was playing out of position at 6. Maitua comes here having to prove something to save his career, and we all know hes talented. A motivated Maitua will be as good as a complacent bird. So im assuming since you want all of last years players back that you dont want Tupou. Gees, you guys just look for excuses to bash the team. If you dont like what they have done, just go and support another team

P.S - 19 of our top 25 were Sharks last year, that's not too different

Shire shark, you don't have to tell me about "FAITH" I wouldn't be commenting on this stuff for no reason. Have a good look we have failed to blood new players on a consistant level, these names you mention stapleton, orcher, Wright, Filnga all sound good but when are they going to get there shot. You can forget Carney he is 15 weeks away and seymour???? who knows at the moment (i like him and hope he plays this weekend) pommers is a good player but I think the word "elite" is a bit of a stretch. He will get better outside Barret. So don't take my post as all doom and gloom. I am just stating that we have alot of work to do to get some younger talent into our backline. But if you think that Misi(27) covel(28) and simmo (24) are going to keep up with the younger brigade that that is your call.
Our forwards are perfect young big strong and looking to make a name for themselves in the top grade. Jack Afamasaga could be the best buy of the year if he gets back to the form he was in at manly in 2007.

I have high hopes for Selmes. He is a massive unit that would give us a very good prop rotation if he lives up to the promise he has shown.

Mate, I just get annoyed with all this negative feedback after a WIN in dredful conditions and the first time barrett and seymour have played together. Considering all things I was quite happy. Gallen was a monster, Tupouplayed well, as did reece williams. Douglas and Snowden were work-a-holics and both are better than ross. Tell me, who would you drop to give there youngsters a go. Drop pomeroy for filiga, keep dreaming. Stapleton for Covell, not in this lifetime. Orcher was mediocre in the trials and couldnt even make the top 25. How many teams win premierships by playing heaps of young players, none. Kearney is only out for a month, wich is actually 4 weeks, not 15. Green can step in for seymour if required, hes good enough. Matthew Whight only turned 18 in January, we would have to be stupid to throw him in and expect to wein a premiership. Filiga poor attitude is the reason hes not there. Like i said with a forwed pack as good as our, our backs dont have to be the best.

P.S - Im not a fan of simmo, i want Brown at Fullback

Cheers bloke, I agree totally with your comments and I reckon that the negativity is warranted. I've been a Sharks supporter for 35+ years, I'm the same age as the club.

What this club needs is a PREMIERSHIP. Nothing more nothing less. I'm not saying that the club needs to cheat, I don't want one that way and I don't think anyone would, but we need to work within the rules to acheive this goal and stop being so righteous about behavioural issues. Amoungst other things. Negative or not I'll still support them this weekend and I know everyone, Sharks fans, whatever their point of view will do so also.

Every year though for me it's getting harder and one day I might walk. I said might, one day I'll give up the rums also :drunk

Once again to all sorry about the Rum rants, it's something I have been passionate about all my life. Sharks and rum :lmao

One more thing....:nodlaugh :birdno

Something needs to be done !!

BTW I hope the mods don't mind me asking but WTF happened to LU ?

Anyone know? Someone push the wrong button or did the ship sink?

Poor old Timmah would be beside himself.

Wow I think that I have found a long lost brother, for I too have drunk many a rum while watching the sharks, lots of ice, splash of coke with my jersey on and football in hand. God bless you my son.

And you are right I will be behind them again 100% again on monday night against the Knights I remember a few years ago we gave them a super thrashing, the old peach was on fire that night.
I suppost that I should be glad that we have a few young blokes like shire with the passion to beleive in all aspects of the team wheres you and I through experience have seen the areas where could to improve to make us even better.

I look forward to chatting to you more over the season. Bring on the rum rants.
cheers mate.
