Giteau, OK I have heard of him and I think his old man played for the chooks. So why did rugby union spend that much money on him, like Tuqiri was he being chased by NRL sides or rugby union clubs overseas?

Of course Giteau or however its spelled is good and killing it in Union - he's a Leaguie. There will be some lucky NRL club when he decides he's got a decent nest egg and money no longer outweighs playing a modern day game which tests out an athlete's abilities and competitive spirit to their limits.

Well I would have thought that too but maybe the Lote Tuqiri episode proves otherwise - Souths were offering him a bucketload of cash but the ARU were able to come up with even more, enough to ensure that he'll play out his career in rugby union instead of rugby league.

And look how well he's earning that cash lately. I love hearing stories of League converts farking up in Union. The Dell with the coke, Lote the lazy fat arse. Hopefully it'll serve to deter them a little from their poaching ways. Doubt it though.

im very disappointed in Lote aye, he was playing very well till he got pissed and missed the recovery session because he 'didnt know it was on' even though it was the day after a game, and then when breathalized at like lunchtime he blew a .05 too, probably like 8 hours after he stopped drinking.
i know thats not that impressive in general, but in his situation its impressive.
impressively stupid.
giteau isnt on 1mil a season. thats heaps. hes on 1.5mil a season. thats sh!t loads!
if the ARU is gunna pay other heaps they have to pay players of equal or better skill equal or better money or there will be unrest, and risk losing the player coz they think they arent valued by the ARU. thats more why giteau is being payed so much, in comparison to other top players in ARU thats where they valued him at the time. hes a great centre, wish they stop moving him around but. if he came to league itd have to be for reasons like rogers, for love of the game, or to try become a double rep. but from what i hear he prefers union. his dad played for canberra, i think he mighta even been captain from memory

As I'm 17 or so, the heroes I have now are the one's I've always had:

Bird,
Gallen,
Noddy,
Simmo (yes, you heard me)

Blokes like:

Ponting, McGrath, Larkham, Lockett, Bresciano get a look in too.

only one really comes to mind, The great Steve Rogers. When i was a kid he was everything i wanted to be. when he changed to st george i didnt understand, it was just too weird to comprehend. God knows how the kids cope with it nowadays with players zipping around from one club to another.
As for now, in NRL i dont really have any "heros" . because most of the blokes arnt much older than my son, its kinda like i have some favourite players but when they mess up i feel like giving them a stern lecture and a kick in the arse. If i had to name some prob Kinga, Birdy and Gals.
