It wouldn't surprise, I reckon the selectors will be looking to bring in some new blood after last year's series loss and Reece would have to be near the head of the queue, as shown by his selection last season for the City-Country game. Also Luke Douglas would have to be a big chance for Origin this season, as you say barring injury and provided he can maintain his excellent form of the last two seasons.

I think Reece has been a huge unsung hero for us the last 3-4 seasons since making his debut, he is steadily improving each game and his fitness is unquestionable, making his work rate first class, plus he is one of the fatest over 40m in the club.

Agreed, although I don't think Ricky did him any favours last season by giving him so much game time out in the centres. I know we were hit hard with injuries and he did do a capable job of filling in out wide, but for mine he is far more effective in the backrow, that is where he belongs and I hope he is able to stay there in 2008.

It would be good for his confidence if he were selected. If he continues to improve after the way he played this year he would certainly deserve a spot.

Agreed, but I did predict that would happen at the start of this year purely due to depth, now that it seems we may have some depth, this should help his cause some. Plus I still think Thompson is going to strughgle, so I would think this will pave the way for Williams to get more time, if not his starting position.

eventually will play origin but i dont think this year.
too many in the mix at the moment-o'donnel will be a certain starter, hindy will have to play himself out of contention, the muppets will prob give ryan another shot(why?i do not know!),then theres mason, gallen, bird.i think creagh would be in the muppets minds as well and poss watmough(even though he had a shocker in the g.f.-i thought he was playing well up to that point)
id love to see him there though.

So GW why do you reckon that Thommo will struggle next season? I know he is not so young anymore and that he was diagnosed with diabetes in the off-season, but has that affected his training?

not in the shire anymore :(
Lance is down to 91 pies. Apparently Mitch Brown (at Fullback) is playing at 95 pies. A bit of diabetic-friendly pie eating ahead for Lancey.

I wonder if his restuarant serves those sort of pies?

That's it shireboy (correct spelling this time), and also his knee problem too. I just think he will struggle, I mean I hope he doesn't, god knows we would love to see him back and raring to go.

I believe he should, but I doubt he will. NSW selectors are friggin idiots and will go with Hindmarsh no matter how he plays, same with Andrew Ryan. Gallen will probably get a gig as will Bird. They're stupid enough to play Mason in the front row. But they'll probably consider the likes of Hoffman, Watmough and Reni Maitua before Reece. But as a Maroon I'm happy they continually screw it up. The pack is where NSW has to get it right, cause God knows their halves and hooker are way off the standard set by QLD. And QLD's pack (bar Petro and Price) are fair rubbish.

Petero and Price are firmly in the veteran class, so if that's the best Qld can offer in the go-forward department next season then they should give it away...

Price and Petero were 2 of the best this season gone at club, State and Country level. QLD's back line is good enough to take advantage of the smallest platform laid out by the forwards, thats why Nate Myles can get a run.

Fair enough then Cap, that's the first explanation I have ever heard for Nate Myles getting a run so I guess I'll go with that until someone comes up with a more plausible alternative :D

Unless they take advantage of the advertising space his forehead could provide I can't see why else he'd be there.
