i'm very interested to read that ricky and the sharks front office are going out and chasing some of the young kiwi prospects coming through in new zealand, instead of just settling with the very few local juniors worth keeping. we can all see the developing trend to sign these young islander players like the mateo's, inu's and falou's because they are just so talented. on the home page there is an article about how there are a couple of young kiwi players coming over to play for us, and we may get ourselves a sonny-bill williams etc.this is the first time i can remember the sharks doing such a thing. i like it.:D

Trust me, majority of the most talented kiwi kids don't make the grade.

Jimmymac, they do this purely for cost, because they can get them cheap. The problem is too many of them together are no good (see warriors). What happens is the Sharks own a house in the shire and all these kids live there, and you can imagine what happens, Lets just say the chick Latu hit, was found in this house a few times prior to Tevita incident.

Not to generalise, but there is a lot of sorting and sifting needed.

i hate when the club signs 1000 kiwi kids...id prefer local juniors get preference because we all know kiwi's tend to get very lazy[no offence]

Ah Peach, you will never be accused of being politically correct mate, just keep calling it as you see it....this forum would die a slow death without you. (Who am i kidding, it would probably flourish with accurate well written observations and opinions rising by 40%, but keep up the good work anyway mate).

Welcome to Emu Plains, please be sure to visit our
just look at the evidence..last few yrs we have focused on getting kiwi talent since the dogs found sonny and the tigers found benji...

that trial has been a major failure..and its time to fix up our ties with our juniors and stop losing them to other clubs

well 40 odd years of trying with a large quantity of local juniors hasn't got us a premiership either. the fact is , our junior base is not as good as other clubs, so i think we should keep trying this, at least for a few more years.

I have been told Flanagan & Stuart used to have a moto at Roosters, they were never allowed to be anymore then 3 kiwi players in one side playing that particular game, this is because of exactly that peach, too many together they are too lazy and it doesn't work.

If our local juniors had enough depth they would minimise their outside signings.

Hopefully with this new junior academy that Ricky is starting, the number of talented juniors in our area will swell.

I coach in our area, it will be a long time coming, but the plan is there. The key is keeping Ricky at our club long enough for it to come to fruition.

I've never met Stuart, but if he has the personality and drive that many claim he has, then you're spot on the money Whiter.

Ask any breeder of livestock, or show animals. To get optimum results, far more attention needs to be focused on cultivation than in any other area. And this ALWAYS involves long term planning. Same goes for professional sporting Clubs.

Coaching a team really only involves working with, and liasing with what you have, as well as tweaking things to best suit the desired result.

Running a Club is a totally different ballgame. If what I've read is true, Stuart seems to be working towards running a successful Club, and the real (final) descision makers are giving him ample room with which to do it.

For me, Ricky Stuart is still green, and an unknown quantity as far as being a successful NRL coach goes.

He certainly got involved with a mob that will sort that out :D.
