The wildest part of that try is it would have been a try under the old rules. He doesn't touch the corner post till after he grounds it.

If Coates scores officials may deem an 8 point try
If he doesn’t they’ll deem either penalty try, or penalty (possible bin/send)

Yeah, that's a hard one, heat of the moment trying to defend and he's blatantly in the way but you can't touch them regardless.

Ref should of handled this on the field last night with a small warning, next time shout at me to move, etc. That should of been the end of it.

Good footage of a similar incident with Wayne Barnes the union Ref on YouTube. Tells him he understands, no further action for the player personally but will be penalty on the field.

I wonder if this is an over reaction from the NRL after what occurred in our game.

Basically telling the coaches and players not to think they can start running into the refs so tries will be disallowed.

Yeah I'm actually watching the replay now and just got passed there, Tricky goes around him at first thinking ball is going wide but steps back in once he realises its not and actually gets impeded as Kikau receives the ball.
Was absolutely correct decision.

I agree that our case was an accident but more referring that the NRL need to send a message im future games that clubs shouldn't start taking the piss with the rule.

So the ref made a correct decision and then accepted Tedesco’s advice to check it .
